Not sure you know what defensive means... You told her she was stonewalling. That's one example of a conclusion you drew. Incorrectly, I will add.

You're the only person in this thread who drew the conclusions you did based upon the OP. And frankly, I have no idea how you did. OP's comments make it even clearer that your response is way off base.

Ugh. I'm sorry, I definitely feel you there. I've spent time *there too. The only reason my husband survived our dead bedroom was because the relationship was otherwise (mostly) really good. We're spiritually and politically very aligned, as well as in agreement on how to raise our kids. And the dead bedroom is getting better, and thankfully was never as egregiously disrespectful as yours seems to be. Ultimately it sounds to me like his needs, views and feelings are the only ones he cares about …

You should read OP's other comments in this thread and then go ahead and walk some of that nonsense back, or maybe all of it. In a romantic relationship, it's usually not the beliefs themselves that matter as much (except in very extreme cases), but how those beliefs lead a person to treat their partner and others.

Hey, I just wanted to say, amidst these crazy long responses from someone who seems to want you to question your knowledge of your fiance and your relationship, and seems to think they know more about it all than you do: I hear what you are saying and I think your concerns about the relationship are extremely valid. Your gut definitely needs to be listened to in all this. And it seems like your gut is reporting major red flags. Political differences in a relationship can matter a lot or very lit…

Just clarifying your policies. Good to know gendered violence, torture, sexual harassment and threats are A-OK around here! Paul Elam would be proud :D Edit: although you don't even follow your own policies, I notice. Doxxing also seems to be A-OK round these parts.

Hold up a minute, let's revisit: And you're the one who believes that men are so embroiled in toxic masculinity that they are brought up to have so little empathy toward women that rape is an integral part of the current masculine identity. It's breathtaking that you would actually dare to suggest, without knowing me at all, that this is what I believe - just because I identify as a feminist. It shows a complete misunderstanding of mainstream feminism, to be honest. Rape and sexual assault are e…

I'm not your buddy, actually! It's hilarious to ME that you think fictional narratives are somehow not reflective of our culture's collective values. But there are, of course, a ton of real life examples that disprove your "theory." Interesting how you think you know what I - and feminists - believe. Also interesting how wrong you are about all of it. But it's not a huge surprise given that the men's rights moment is based on one giant, imaginary strawfeminist.

Wow. You really like to edit every single one of your extremely short comments after the fact, don't you? My theory, as a war veteran, is that the ultimate reason why women think they have it so bad is because they've got no idea how men have it and very little capacity to empathize. Do you agree, or disagree, with this extremely straightforward statement? Would you protest at this statement it if the genders were reversed? With men, given that they're constantly portrayed as monsters, rapists, and dumb jocks more than anything else unless they're ridiculously good looking? To you I say - and I mean this with 100% sincerity - what? I mean...have you heard of...every protagonist ever? Nope. I'd say women in aggregate--especially in aggregate, actually--legitimately lack the ability to empathize with men as a group, especially compared with the converse. So you do believe women are less capable of empathy than are me…

He isn't funding two households. That's a ridiculous thing to day. We're talking about $400 a month here. I didn't say "fuck him." But yes, he needs to get a better job. If he can't due to factors he can't control, then he shouldn't have had three kids. I don't call $400/month to support three kids ridiculously unfair. It is a large chunk of his monthly income. But he's the one who had the kids in the first place.
/r/MensRights19/12/13 06:12 PM
2

had the original divorce not occurred. But it did occur, and kids cost money, whether their parents are married or not. Child support is a means of knowing that the parent without primary custody is paying their fair share. $400/month is not a lot for 3 kids, as many in this thread have pointed out. OP needs to get a better job.
/r/MensRights19/12/13 03:29 AM

I would say it was irresponsible for any person, man or woman, to mother or father three kids on a salary barely above the federal poverty line for a single person household. You're making this about men vs. women, and I'm not interested in having that discussion.
/r/MensRights19/12/13 02:46 AM

I thought according to the usual strawfeminist propaganda FTFY Dude, the guy fathered 3 kids with this woman. He makes a little over 1k a month. You really can't agree with me that it wasn't the most fiscally responsible series of decisions anyone has ever made? r/mensrights: where everything is a woman's fault, always, and when you can't absolutely PROVE that it is you can just make up a reason that feminists are hypocrites in a desperate attempt to change the subject!
/r/MensRights19/12/13 01:55 AM
6

Oh right, I forgot, all women are spermjackers and/or men hold no responsibility for birth control, so it's safe to assume that the decision to have not one, not two, but THREE children was completely out of his hands. /s
/r/MensRights19/12/13 01:32 AM

Maybe your boyfriend having three kids on a salary of 13,000/year was, in fact, the first mistake?
/r/MensRights19/12/13 12:05 AM

And yet - just because you can't PROVE a rape or sexual assault occurred doesn't 100% guarantee that it DIDN'T occur. Only if it is 100% provable that the accuser was knowingly lying should their name be added to any kind of registry. Otherwise it's still more disincentive for legitimate rape victims to report their rapes.

The latter portion of your original comment is a preposterous strawman hypothetical. Feminists wish to reduce rape victim blaming & shaming, but have no wish to throw out due process for any defendant. And my point still stands: that it's pointless to compare the two as you could cherry pick any two examples that would make one seem worse than the other, depending on your agenda - even in your futuristic feminazi dystopia.
/r/MensRights08/12/13 07:31 AM

Not all rapes result in assault or murder, just as not all false rape accusations end in convictions or prison time :)
/r/MensRights08/12/13 06:59 AM

I always wonder about the feminists that say false accusations aren't as bad as rape. Rape vs someone losing maybe decades of their life in prison and probably also raped themselves. The latter portion of your comment was not worth my time or attention.

But might be a natural consequence or companion of rape, just as being sent to prison, and being raped while there, might be natural consequences of a false rape accusation.
/r/MensRights07/12/13 09:09 AM

An actual rape actually happened to someone. False rape accusations lead to convictions an even lower percentage of the time than real rape accusations do, which is already a ridiculously low conviction rate. Therefore, if you MUST compare the two, I'd say that actual rape is by the far worse problem. Could one false rape accusation end up worse than one honest-to-goodness rape? Sure, the poor soul could be thrown in jail for years of his or her life and raped by cellmates, and that would be bot…

I agree. And it in no way paints this woman in a more favorable light. Similar to Casey Anthony partying after murdering her daughter - killing your child because they were an obstacle to your social/love life is not at all a flattering angle for the woman, much less doing so at the behest of some lame boyfriend.

It's am amazing ability you have, you make every single story you encounter fit your pre-determined narrative. I wish I had such a gift :) Oh and I would revisit the definition of the word "justify" if I were you. Twas not the word you were looking for. Can you admit that at least?

Establishing a possible partial motive for someone's behavior is very far from justifying it. *edit: I love that you turds downvoted this as if it wasn't a completely valid point. That is not why I am mocking them. Can we be done now? What's your agenda on this point - or is it just a case of extreme pedantry? Could you answer my question? So if you dismiss MRAs who have male privilege, you dismiss men. Some men, yes. Not because they are men, but because they are humans who are blind to their own social privilege. Cheating is wrong no matter who does it, man or woman. Yet it's extremely immature and sensationalist to exact public revenge on the alleged cheater, and WRONG no matter who does it, man or woman. I can google her book all day, but will have no way of knowing what exactly you find demonic about it. However, I find that less interesting than the fact that you demonize your enemies by literally calling them "demons." Don't you ever wonder if that level of melodrama is good for you or for your movement?

You were advocating that fathers be "equal" under the law in terms of being able to drop their infants at a Safe Haven despite any paternity claims, or at least saying that it was unjust that the mother could relinquish responsibility after birth, but not the father. Correct? I layed out what that "right" would mean in practical terms. This, apparently, is criminal debate misconduct to you. Just FYI, what Save Haven really means in practical terms is that less infants get abandoned in dumpsters.…

This part right here is something I did not say. Nor did I ever claim that you said it. I outlined the "rights" for fathers that you were advocating in terms of what they would mean on a practical level. No need to get all bent out of shape at a nonexistent offense. Be it a mother, or a father, for either parent to choose to abandon both authority over and responsibility for a child is not "classy". But mothers have that non-classy option. Fathers should too. Fathers do have that option in all e…

Wow. That's the inference, huh? Or is it an inference one could make, due to one being a sexist asshole? Remember when I said this? So what if more women initiate divorce? I could use that to support the notion that "men are bad communicators," or "men take women for granted, or "men just want a maid and not a wife" - but I wouldn't because that's fucking sexist. Sigh. You consider yourself "informed" when what you really are is "opinionated." There is a difference, and there is also a difference between "traditional" gender roles and "natural" gender roles. "Traditional" gender roles are socialized - y'know, Dad should be the distant breadwinner, Mom should be the active nuturer. As I and other feminists would call them, bullshit. No matter what her decision, she must accept responsibility for the unwanted pregnancy, as it occurs within her body. Are you forgetting that the biological roles of men and women in creating children are not identical?
/r/MensRights17/06/13 12:44 AM
5

It is propaganda, and it does make childcare and domestic work out to be a challenge for men Okay then, making this a little more explicit: why do you interpret this poster as saying childcare and domestic work is a challenge for men (which obviously suggests that you're insulted, seeing as you're complaining about it)? I don't view the original poster as saying that manual labor is a challenge for women, at all. *Edit to thank you for editing your post to make it much less rude.
/r/MensRights17/06/13 12:30 AM

Men do not need a propaganda campaign to entice them to become fathers, they are actually blocked from those roles. Really? MRAs are complaining in this same thread about how fatherhood is "slavery" and how unfair it is that men can't legally abandon their children, as women supposedly can. Y'all need a PR department.
/r/MensRights17/06/13 12:10 AM

The original Westinghouse Poster was meant as a positive, inspiring message, not an insult. So why do you take this version an insult to men? Perhaps because you view the tasks depicted as lesser than that of a factory worker?
/r/MensRights17/06/13 12:07 AM
8

You're assuming it's a "prod against deadbeat dads" because you want to demonize feminists. Your typical non-MRA person would see this poster and say, "Oh look, feminists think neither gender should be forced to conform to traditional gender roles. That's nice! Egalitarian even." It's a positive message, dude. Drop the silly conspiracy theory.
/r/MensRights17/06/13 12:06 AM

Demanding the right to abandon children, in the spirit of egalitarianism. MRAs, classy as always. *Edit to add that this source does not distinguish between mothers and fathers when discussing child abandonment from a legal perspective. And mothers can owe child support just as fathers can, if they do not have primary custody. In which hypothetical situations are you arguing that mothers can legally abdicate responsibility where fathers cannot?
/r/MensRights16/06/13 11:56 PM

Then, when you have sex while wearing a condom, you accept that there is a risk of unwanted pregnancy and thus accept responsibility for that unwanted pregnancy, should it occur.

You're making a lot of really melodramatic leaps there. In every direction. To claim that anyone feels that boy deserved to die is preposterous and removes any erases any credibility you have in your arguments. Defending the girl against those who would inexplicably attack her =/= "That boy deserved to die!" Hope you can grasp at least that much common sense.
/r/MensRights14/06/13 10:10 PM

...Did you not see all the links I provided in this comment, which was in direct response to you? Edit: more in my comment here. The overall gist of the MRA philosophy seems to be: when men vote out of self-interest it's natural and good, even if their choices screw women over, but when women do it it's wrong, and sexist against men. Kinderdemon didn't claim that. I did. You don't even have to find MRAs who have said that. Some of them obviously believe it, given their commentary on how women have "abused" their right to vote somehow and things have been worse off for men ever since women started voting. Also, the outright complaints that MRAs who say women's suffrage shouldn't have happened are labeled misogynistic - for some mysterious reason! - point directly to that belief.

Your argument actually is an argument in favor of taking the vote away from us, not because we can't do better, but because you assume that no woman ever will. No. Just...no. "Do better"? I never accepted the premise that women need to "do better" somehow, with our "anti-male" voting. How on earth do we need to "do better?" Maybe you can explain it to me. The prevailing logic here seems to be that because A) women got the vote, and B) men are at a greater political/societal disadvantage since th…

Presentation of evidence to what end, one might ask. It's not hard to connect the dots. The point is that suffrage, and women voting, was somehow a bad thing for men. It's a ridiculous argument. Women are able to vote now because we are people, too, and that's how it should be. Full fucking stop. It's like having a discussion about how ending slavery was bad for white people - you're not going to get very far in reasonable company. Hope you can see the parallel there.

Source? Several in my comment here. The MRM has never been in a position to legislate, so it doesn't mean much to say that they've never passed legislation that discriminates against women. It's not a valid bragging point.

Misrepresentation. No, sorry. womans suffrage wasnt really about general equality. ...and that's a pretty dumb and pointless argument, isn't it?

mensrights also doesn't oppose women's equal rights Except for all those MRAs that have said women's suffrage should never have happened, because women voting makes everything worse. has never actually created legislation that discriminates against them. That's pretty meaningless because the MRM has never been in a position to legislate.

Honestly, this sounds like you're saying "Yeah, but the difference is that I'm right." I guess I should have been clearer. When I said that "women are an historically, globally oppressed group" I meant specifically at the hands of men, to their detriment and to men's gain. Is that any clearer? I think it's a pretty reasonable and objectively supportable position that, although men too are oppressed all over the world, women are more often oppressed on the basis of their gender, which results in …

You saying things like "They just need to stop being creepy!" or "well, if they don't want to be called creeps then they shouldn't have been creepy", clearly demonstrates that you don't understand the harm in the word, where the behaviors you label as "creepy" come from or how your misrepresentations, and lack of understanding, of their actions is a problem. I didn't say any of that. Are you confused about who you are talking to? There are countless posts on r/creepypms that show a deep sense of…

Hi! Thanks for your civility. Can only one be a problem or do we have to order problems from most serious to least serious and address them like that? This is a good point and I appreciate it. This seems like something people can and do say about Feminism to attempt to shut a conversation down. Right, but the difference there is that women are an historically, globally oppressed group and men are not. It's also interesting to note your syntax excludes men from being "real victims of patriarchy."…

What you're saying here would be something similar to "Why is calling niggers "niggers" a problem? all they have to do is stop being niggers!" The fact that you would compare this, in all seriousness, to the plight of creeps being called creeps, shows that you in fact are the one who doesn't get it. And probably never will. Waste of my time.

Why, because calling a creepy guy a creep is some kind of serious problem? Like the ACTUAL FACT of women being discriminated against when seeking positions of power in our society? It boggles my mind how some men so desperately want to paint themselves as victims, because they're jealous of the attention that real victims of the patriarchy get, or something? I honestly don't understand it. I told a female friend that being called creepy is so prevalent that, if it were a death penalty offense, e…

Check out the comment (currently) above you. Patriarchy has a simple definition, and is a provable phenomenon. (in case it moves)

The distinction here seems to be a cultural one rather than of the basic fact of someone's sexual preference, which can be informed by culture but ultimately isn't determined by it - if you believe, as I do, that homosexuality isn't a choice. As a woman, I'd be far more comfortable showering with a lesbian than with a man. Perhaps that's because there is a deep culturally embedded message that men can't control themselves around women, will engage in some immature behavior, or at the very least …

Are you suggesting that the woman is going to exploit or seduce the man if they share a shower together, for some devious purpose, and that's why we separate the sexes? I'm sorry, I genuinely don't understand. Maybe someone else can help me.

There is nothing positive about this unnecessary whine-fest. You're all bitching about perceived wrongs instead of standing up in solidarity with people who would welcome your viewpoint if it wasn't couched in anger and bitterness.

LOL! If I thought it was worth refuting you, I would, but it's 100% not. Emotional arguments, just like self-interest, are shared by all of humanity. Also, you're a dumbass.

It's too bad your ass gets kissed so hard considering you are so very full of shit. And a condescending asshole to boot! You give bigoted people an excuse to be bigoted, while allowing them to continue living in denial about being bigoted. I feel a lot better about the minimal amount I have contributed to humanity knowing that it has hopefully cancelled out some of your rancid awfulness.

initially feminism challenged the traditional family structure, and that was threatening to mainsteam conservative-minded people. same is now true for lgbts. feminism fought against women's status as second class citizens, and lgbts also know what it's like to be treated differently under the law, and be discriminated against in ways that are subtler and more insidious within our culture. so, empathy and an innate understanding of the struggle they face. there's also the obvious: that many lgbts…
