Art directors and senior designers dictate how the game should be. Components of a game should fit the overall theme and or style of a game. As much as I like designing games, if you're in the AAA marketplace, you need to think of a player base more so than if you you're working on super meat boy where they build games because they are fun for them and in return many people enjoy the game also. There are many factors of course but you always need to think of the player base.

I've worked on AAA game titles and I still feel that character is designed poorly and with no real focus on the game itself in mind. Making realistic characters for situations drives flow. This would irritate me more if I was to play the game.

On a note though, that barbie look has actually been a problem that has lead to many people have alterations to there body to before more like that image. I remember of a few anorexia cases and more alterations.

I guess I'm lucky how I deal with people in work. I use the whole "THANK YOU <3<3<3<3" and " :D:DD:D:D:D:D:D " All the time.. I should tone that down.
