Why cant men choose to do the same thing? Because unlike women, men also face the same rules/requirements as dating in any social sphere from both men and women. Ie - they are only accepted conditionally if they meet the same competence, social status, connections/network, attractiveness, sociability, social class etc requirements as in dating, just not as extremely as dating.
