so a male peeing is gross? Years ago I accidentally discovered in a conversation that most women think standard usage of urinals implies showing your dick to others and seeing others' dicks. They don't really get the mechanic.

The "active consent" model of sexual ethics is no more than another power-play where a faction establishes nebulous rules that correspond to extreme penalties, setting themselves up as the arbiter of their interpretation so as to gain power over anyone else. Absolutely no one completely follows these rules, which makes everyone subject to accusations of rape at any point and for any number of reasons.

But, its "EmOtIoNaL LaBoUr" so you can't really open up. So, the real message is that "Men have to kind of open up but not really". It's "men have to open up about things that aren't hard for others to deal with". Which is basically not opening up at all, given that emotions that are well-received by others don't normally get repressed.

Phobia is a fear for which there is no reason. I think that there are certain reasons not to be especially enthusiastic about Russia nowadays. Was there any doubt that I was defending the Russian government? The Russophobia here is the idea that Russians have no right to asylum abroad but instead a duty to stay and fight Putin. This standard is completely unfounded in international law, and is in fact totally opposite to its core principles.

Russian men who flee their country have a well-founded fear of persecution and are unable to avail themselves of the protection of their home country, so they must be granted asylum based on the 1951 Refugee Convention which Estonia has ratified. It is illegal for Estonian authorities, no matter their political views, to deny these asylum seekers their protection. Also, in a dictatorship citizens clearly aren't as responsible for the actions of the state as in a democracy, so the argument itself…

There is no way to get rejected if you go up to a woman to see if she's interesting. But if you are going up to her because you want her to validate you, give you her number, go to bed with you or because you are offering yourself, your ability to pay for her lifestyle and what not, then you do absolutely risk rejection. What is someone who is actually trying to hit on women for the purpose of sex or a relationship supposed to do with this sage advice? suddenly realize "my god, I was trying to g…

just being themselves As always with this advice: people who can "just be themselves" don't need to be told, and people that need to be told can't do it. There's a reason this is both the most common dating advice and the least reported as working.

As an Italian man who's made a fair use of Tinder here and elsewhere... yeah you can easily tell. Tinder abroad (especially Austria/Germany) is much easier, as well as OkCupid. The overall easiest was the US, which is like day and night compared to here.

He is very clear that the problem isn’t female success, but some men’s inability to adjust to a world where they can no longer dominate simply as a right. If all that's happened is that men's advantages were taken away, then men should just revert to the mean, not fall behind. The underlying causes of this gender gap are complex and difficult to untangle. But Reeves focuses on something that may resonate with mothers of teenage sons, which is the tendency of boys to mature emotionally on average…

This is a rational response to their environment, not stubbornness or entitlement. The underlying assumption of male hyperagency. Men always choose what they do, others are constrained by their situation.

Why do you feel like you should be so judgmental to other people on this issue? if you feel sex doesn't matter, good for you and I hope you're happy with it. Sex matters a lot to other people and they're not wrong because of that.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/09/22 03:50 PM

sex is at the forefront of your actions & thoughts, instead of the person Why would that be an "instead of"? When getting to know someone sex doesn't matter. When starting to have a relationship & deeper connection then 'sex does matter' but only as a way to be closer to your partner. If that's how you feel good for you and I hope you meet or already are with someone compatible, but why does that have to be some universal rule?

A woman at her job? Don't hit on her. A woman on the street? Don't hit on her. A woman in basically any setting where it doesn't seem like she's searching for a partner? Don't hit on her. How do you square your ideology with the fact that tens of millions of happy relationships have started with people hitting on someone else well outside these narrow parameters?

but the guide they're really looking for is "How to get a date" and if toxic communities are the only place that gives them a functional guide, that's where they'll go This is something that was already brought up decades ago about the first PUA communities. The groups that didn't listen then listen even less now. The fundamental truth is that they don't care about men for men, they care about men as tools to some other objective (social peace, a just society, female advancement etc)

70% of a group can absolutely be described as "most" but, aside from that, 30% of which group is incels?

Tinder match rates evidently don't represent the dating world as, once again, most people do eventually pair off. No they don't. Incels wouldn't exist if this was the case. Let's stop at this one, because if we can't get over the hurdle of basic logic we're not going anywhere. Saying "most people do eventually pair off" in no way precludes the existence of incels. Clearly "most" does in fact allow for a minority of items to fall outside the largest set. Your objection doesn't make sense on purel…

Women are more and more not getting along with men they don't appealing. Come on, don't motte-and-bailey this shit. Your full claim was "the vast majority of men are not appealing to women, and women don't want to date them". That claim is indefensible, as it's a manifest fact that "the vast majority of men" are in fact with someone.

What are they even trying to say here? That there are plenty of models of male sexiness in media. Which is true. The problem is that those models are the opposite of what the same feminist crowd says men should want to imitate. Including extremely pRoblEMaTic cases like legit rapists and abusers that still have giant crowds of female fans. They are getting inundated and rather than filter for quality they use something, what, IDK. Fun, they're filtering for people who seem fun (and not weird). "Letter noting what we have in common" is targeting a very small niche of women who have that within their idea of fun.

pinging u/grii2 since he asked: Sounds like mega cope for the fact that vast majority of men are not appealing to women and given the opportunity - like in the case of dating apps - women wouldn't want to date these men. If that were true, there would basically be no couples out there, in the Western world at least. Women are perfectly free not to date anyone after all. Yet eventually most people settle into a traditional couple structure.

Dating has always been a game of Brownian walks where people bump into each other until they meet someone potentially compatible and they have a chance at pairing off. Tinder doesn't seem to have negatively impacted any of these parameters, but the life circumstances of younger generations certainly impact the chances of pairing off. If you can't afford at least a private room, don't have money to go out on dates, or a car, it's significantly harder to turn matches into sexual involvement. More …

Olivia Wilde initially cast Shia LeBoef in her latest movie, but he left the project before they started shooting. Later, Wilde claimed she fired him because she had to protect the female co-star, Florence Pugh, from Shia's "combative energy", whatever that means. Shia published the receipts showing he withdrew and that Wilde actually tried to make him stay.

the dating market isn’t made of couples The dating market has couples as its main end product, outside countries where arranged marriage is common. Like any market, actual trades executed inform you infinitely more about trader behavior than any speculation about their preferences and inner state of mind. Couples are what you should look at if you want to know what men and women want. Now I’ll take a break from this discussion, so we both can think about real sensible questions and answers. Take…

With greater wealth inequality, the more likely wealth is to be used as reason to select one relationship over another. Maybe, or maybe it becomes less relevant as higher wealth is not achievable in practice. However you turn this in your head the observation remains: the vast majority of couples include no partner that is wealthy. Wealth is clearly not a necessary factor.

An achievement becoming harder does the opposite of recommending it as a stepping stone to getting something else. On top of the fact that, again, OP doesn't even seem to like this kind of women.

There are two phenomena: lived experience tell men that women are often over-selective. And research makes clear that money and status play a role in their selection, probably more on evolutionary grounds than for practical reasons. How do we get to the observed reality that the vast, vast majority of existing couples don't include any partner who's wealthy? And I ask you politely not to repeat yourself. I ask you politely to explain what you're talking about here because I have no idea.

Those women aren’t thinking: oooh, I want a rich and powerful man because he can provide for me and impress me! They just feel erotically attracted to a man like that when they meet him, no matter how egalitarian and hippie they are. The best way for a specific individual man to not become one of the leftover men, is often to attempt to woo a woman who seeks a high achiever. Based on what? the erosion of the middle class, decreased social mobility and general difficulty in becoming a high achiever contradict the idea that this is the best tactic, even assuming (again) that you do want a woman who has these preferences.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates12/09/22 08:13 AM

You've switched to a completely orthogonal argument from your original "you either chase women who want high achievers or you die alone". Is it a tacit admission that it's not true?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates12/09/22 08:07 AM

I guess we have different preferences, as is natural. I'd never want someone whose love is conditional on me staying on a predetermined career path. Notice that I'm not saying I need a woman that asbolutely doesn't care about money; money is obviously a practical consideration, and even career to a certain degree since it influences the hours you work and what adjustement your family might need to make around it. But being with someone that needs me to outearn and out-prestige her, as some kind …

The alternative is dying alone. That is self-evidently not true. The vast majority of men in LTRs out there aren't the kind of men the women described in the OP pursue. Top college degree, high income, own place own car describes a small percentage of the male population, and it's certainly not the only percentage that is pairing off. Now, since this seems like that kind of thread, I'll pre-empt the strawman "oh so you're saying education and money don't matter then". No, I'm not. I'm saying the…

Don't delude yourself and others Look at the world around you. Are most couples made up of wealthy people? it's actually delusional, not "you disagree with me so I'll call you delusional", to believe so. Wealth helps with practically everything. It removes economic stresses, affords more free time, better amenities, all things conducive to meeting more potential partners. It certainly makes you more attractive to many. Sure I get it, but this doesn't seem to fit the bill does it? this type of women that want a high achiever who has better titles than them, makes more money than them, has his own place etc don't seem to fall into the "what you can get" category. Since you don't even seem to like them, why focus on them?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates12/09/22 06:55 AM

They'll lie about why past relationships ended, they'll lie about how recently they've been with someone else, they'll lie about what types of sex they enjoy, etc. All these things happen, and I'd wager with the same frequency, with women. Not even talking about straight dating here, both are common complaints in gay dating too. People just lie a bunch about personal history when they think they'll be judged on it.

Succintly: because society is shifting from a duty-entitlement system (perform a duty, get a reward) to an identity-entitlement system (have a protected identity, get a reward), and men are by far the largest group left behind in this. We're still called on to perform our traditional duty as strong stoic breadwinners, but we're then told not to expect any reward from this.

Once again a simple observation is proven: that if men on average move towards macho attitudes, restrictive emotional expression and general traditional masculine behavior, it's because society rewards that and punishes deviations. For every point you deviate from that ideal there's a price you pay to society, which means most men strive not to deviate. The fucked-up trap we're all collectively in right now is that a large and growing segment of society wants to also punish us for adhering to th…

The idea that maleness itself needs to be pathologized and fixed is so shamelessly sexist it could only exist in a culture that has set the inherent human worth of males to be negative.

The real problem is that there is no such thing as 'masculinity'. There's no definition every single man fits perfectly but there's definitely a cluster of traits that are associated with men. The construct itself is something feminists with absolutely zero perspective on men's experiences and beliefs have concocted in order to blame the actions of predators on men in general and to blame men for their own problems. I think you're thinking more of the concept of "toxic masculity".

The « nature vs nurture » debate is long resolved in the scientific community We haven't resolved debates for which we have 5-sigma quantitative predictions, I can read 0 pages of psychology and know for a fact that we aren't remotely close to resolving something as hard to even define as "nature vs nurture". You can't make a decent, ethically coherent view out of any form of idpol. The minute you reduce people to a set of identities is the minute you start assigning individual blame and merit for things that individual often has no part of. Universalist values are how you elevate yourself above this quagmire, and arrive at an ethically sound, applicable position. Case in point, "privilege" is a horrendous framework to work from. It automatically casts issues in terms of identity groups, and no amoun…

Either you want men to open up or not. Yeah that's really it. "Open up" is an invitation to something that is by its very nature unknown. You want a metaphorical gate to be opened and by definition you can not know what's on the other side until it is. It's a big thing to ask. When they recast this in terms of "well I meant share how you're feeling a little, not trauma dump on me" they're renegotiating the terms of their request because they didn't like the results. However they don't want to ow…

It's been my experience that men support their SOs emotionally or "as a therapist" more than the other way around. Far more (on average of course). The simple fact that our culture demands men to be "rocks", while providing plenty of avenues for women to be weak and in need without shame, creates an enormous pressure towards this arrangement, so it's no surprise that it manifests so often.

Italy (only proposed in Parliament in 2017) Weird one. It was introduced by PD, the main center-left party, but never passed the committee stage. That by itself is not strange, most laws die there. What's strange is I'm finding interviews by the bill's own sponsor saying it needed changing. I don't think they ever intended to push it, I'm wondering if they didn't put it forward because of some deal with this or that org that required them to.
