Yeah so basically it’s a mental barrier of intention. I want it in the abstract but in the moment the tendency is to push it out of my mind. I mean part of it is just that I move slowly anyway, and part is that I’m super picky, and part of it is the programming I grew up with which makes me even wonder if it’s ok to pursue such things.. there’s a lot of layers to it.

Extremely not asexual, just clueless on pursuing a sexual liaison, and play as if I’m not interested by habit of how I was taught growing up.

In my interactions I developed a way of connecting that completely dodges sexual tension in most cases even while developing close connections. One girl wondered if I was gay, and another referred to me as a “gay best friend”, although my ex said it was clear that wasn’t the case. But essentially I was raised on this “don’t sexualize girls” ethic and took it to heart growing up. The upside is I have some great female friendships, and girls tend to feel safe around me. The downside is crossing th…

I appreciate the question. No answers or insight from my end, but I relate to the struggle. I tend to be overly asexual in dealing with women it would seem.

That’s me to a T — comfortable being vulnerable, emotionally intimate — and the amount of girl drama in my live I’ve had suggests few are weirded out by it, anyway in that type of circle. I think the key — and I’ve been told I’m at least part way there — is being able to switch between the sort of emotional / feminine side and a more assertive masculinity. From all I’ve seen and experienced, nailing that combination makes a guy like crack to girls.

Depends on his goals tbh. The fact that he asked to talk AFTER she said she was taken suggests he also likes meeting people for the fun of it.

Yeah that was my point. Having money (income, etc.) is meaningless. It’s the things that often (but don’t definitely) come with it that is most important.

You think being charming is the least necessary? If so, that would be odd, since the root of “charming” essentially means being able to cast a spell on someone.

What he’s saying is that if you have money but 1) don’t spend it in a way that increases options and enjoyment, and 2) lack a relationship with it that gives you increased power in life, it won’t help. On the other hand a person who knows how to play money games and maintains a glitzy, or adventurous in the way she values, lifestyle, and has a commanding presence, but a $0 or negative net worth can draw far more attention. The latter doesn’t really have money, he’s living on borrowed time. But i…

I have a net worth that puts me towards the 80-90th percentile for my age, but it doesn’t actually matter because I don’t spend it, and so a girl will neither see it nor likely enjoy it. Yes it improves my chances, but not enough to cancel out some weak personality attributes. Realistically my prospects now are not substantially different from when my net worth was closer to $0.

True but some would be quite happy to bang said gold digging prostitute given the chance anyway. Especially those who don’t have the opportunity wish they could.

The question is which of those can you most easily take away without dramatically changing the picture.

If it were me I’d try to fight with her. Set yourself up for that clash. Test your mettle against each other. Get competitive. I’m not really into it for a relationship or fling or whatever, but I have a tendency to draw in high intensity girls above my level as close friends. That’s hard enough as they are used to guys being after them for something or other. Main difference being that I tend to not hold my weight super well up there, and find the constant intensity a little annoying from an em…

Nah I suspect what it is is that the people who live online aren’t the same as the ones who want to be approached. Selection bias.

Go on a porn sight and you’ll see that there are significant sub fantasies amongst men. I’m somewhat of a switch (I’m male), but I find that being responsible for others scares me because in the past I messed up big time in that space, and otherwise it’s just a bit to handle. So for me being dom is safe. But the power dynamic really appeals to me, even though in my daily life I very much avoid anyone having power over me, or having power over others. That said I do tend to find myself in positio…

Honestly I was more acknowledging that negative connotation exists — because it does — and also that different people have different goals, which will play out in different ways — because they do — ….but really that your core point was important regardless.

I think the miscommunication comes from you bristling at me using different words. If I didn’t have an interest in learning from other people I wouldn’t be here in the first place. I take what I can make use of, and leave the rest. Like I do in all areas of life. But why do you keep trying to convince me on the merit of the cold approach? Literally my whole point from the beginning was agreeing with it. You insist you’re not being defensive but from your very first comment you’re treating me lik…

I’ve been around enough to realize that different rules work for different people in different situations. In fact I’m in the middle of reframing my social goals, methods, and skills precisely because I’m no longer part of a particular world I well understood, in which I knew how to get what I wanted (what I want and what’s possible / available have both shifted). The fact is, a person who wants to bang as many girls as he can will approach life very differently from a guy who wants a single sim…

Meh, I could care less about words. I was merely attempting to summarize your point couched in a way to reach a different audience. Well perhaps I failed because all I got was your defensiveness (not precisely sure why), but I will say that if I actually have to hold my nose it’s probably because something’s spoiled.

Also can you point out exactly where in my comment I said PUA was bad? Or does mere disagreement translate as judgement in your mind?

The term “pickup artist” brings strong associations with it, starting with the word “pickup” and ending with the word “artist”, that are understood to mean very different things from, say, “making friends” or “networking”, or even “dating”. The fact that a person can be a scummy douchbag PUA (or networker) doesn’t mean all are, but there are reasons why some don’t find value in attending networking conventions even as they like to make new connections with other professionals. To point, I’m not …

Some of us aren't all that interested in being PUA's for any number of reasons, ranging from fear to just straight up disinterest (I know, shocking, considering the name of the subreddit), but I think it's important to realize that you'll never get anywhere with a girl (bed, marriage, casual asexual and aromantic friendship, etc.) if you don't talk to one first. Waiting for them to come to you out of the ether is a good way to be left disappointed, but learning to approach girls throughout the e…

Bro I was a virgin until I was 27, and haven’t even touched a girl for over a year. I’d say you’re hitting pretty solid.

From what little I’ve seen, even a purely hedonic purpose is preferable to aimlessness. Obviously she has to jive with that, but the point is your life is confidently about “something”. Momentum / energy is the real point.

Sure but OP called him “super good looking” not “tall with good clothes”. Basically everything that makes him “super good looking” is within reach of about anyone, with the exception of tall.
/r/seduction08/12/21 09:58 PM

So basically the only natural feature of attractiveness you give him is height.
/r/seduction08/12/21 09:52 PM

So first of all OP wasn’t talking about Pete, OP was talking about a character Pete plays. Second of all, of all his attributes, I suspect being “very attractive” is near the bottom of the list of reasons why people like Pete in any way.

Honestly I’d put him below average but I was trying to be nice.

So my plan is to build the life of my dreams that also happens to put me into the most contact with the most potentially datable people. Apps don’t get me anything at all for whatever reason. But I’m not chasing women, I’m building a social life that includes women.
/r/seduction06/12/21 04:30 PM

Which was my point — don’t contort yourself to what you think others want. Learn to be boldly confident in who you are. I saw a post somewhere on here I think where a guy described how he did exactly that — contorted himself to be what he thought others wanted — only to realize that the girls he was really into didn’t like that, and he didn’t feel true to himself.

Ah yes. You caught the error in the original post. Statistically Colorado has lots of mountains. However only 60% of Colorado even has mountains at all.

I’m imagining the beta male that dyes his hair, gets some edgy (but actually cliche) tattoos, and starts talking in an unnatural voice, then coming across as desperate and insecure let alone low EQ, and getting nothing, and not knowing what he did wrong.

Well it is fair to say that the shallower of a game one is wanting to play, the shallower of results they’ll get.

All this is true, it’s just that you’re dealing with selection bias — those who like height are drawn to you, while those that don’t aren’t. My ex told me she wasn’t attracted to big strong guys. She didn’t like to feel so small next to them.
/r/seduction05/12/21 04:19 AM

Eh I’m not convinced. Perhaps in online dating height is the end all. But I’m more likely to think it goes the other way around — short men tend to be more insecure and therefore lack game. I’m just saying, I’ve known my share of below average height men who had great game.

I’m sure you’re living a very fulfilling life we could all learn from. But it is true that the rules of the game depend on the game you’re trying to play.

Nah, this isn’t “nice guy” because “nice guy” is an act anyway, and usually rooted in insecurity. This is more about being a guy that’s not easily intimidated, secure in himself, and outside the drama of their everyday life (i.e. endless lines of indistinguishable men trying to chat them up and bed them).
/r/seduction01/12/21 07:43 PM

Sure some have better luck — I’m 5’5”, which doesn’t affect my everyday life at all but I suspect it’s part of why my apps are so dry, and may have other dating impacts. But even the “good luck” ones hit less than they miss. But one of the most adept flirts I ever met, was smaller than me, and unattractive, but had one of the most winsome, upbeat personalities, and ability to make you feel noticed, of anyone I’ve met.

Now.. “not to the degree…” does that mean they hit 20% of the time instead of 1-5%? I mean nobody’s batting 1000. Reminds me of a great travel memoir I read once, a best seller that’s been reprinted a few times, for which the author said he submitted it 100 times before someone finally signed him on to publish it. Sometimes we look at the successes of others and imagine they only ever succeed and we only ever fail.
