It isn't. 24% of people have been domestically abused. Of those cases, 50% involve both partners abusing each other and the other 50% involves only 1 partner doing the abusing. Women are responsible for 70% of cases with only one abuser, and have been documented to start the physical abuse first in relationships where both partners are abusive. It affects us a lot more than it affects them.
