People know that the guy in the fancy suit with the nice shoes and watch is doing well in life. There's a hierarchy in Finance where the more senior people wear nicer stuff. The absurd amounts of money being made in tech by people at the top -- and the fact that it hardly trickles down to the rank and file -- means that the top dogs try to camouflage their wealth as much as possible. They wear casual clothing. It's a smart strategic decision not a fashion statement.

The guys at the top are very entrepreneurial and hard core and alpha. On the buy side particularly they can be highly nonconformist and make their careers on having contrarian views. It's the army of guys that work for them today that tend to be the betas - and all of those guys still get paid quite handsomely (especially relative to today's environment where high paying employment is tough to come by).

Certainly don't think wealth correlates. There's plenty of heirs who are morons. But anyone that can break down the barriers you need to break down to build a large business is an alpha in my view. These guys usually net about 55% of what they make (the cash portion) and their cost of living is astronomically high as they are renting apartments and eating at the same restaurants as today's global rich class (billionaires, entrepreneurs, and executives) who consider the city to be their playground.

You're absolutely incorrect. The pockets of tech where the real money and power is concentrated aren't very different. As someone who has been on the Street for a number of years, this is ludicrous. Prior to the financial crisis (e.g. back when the industry was healthy), there were hardly any analyst to associate promotes. You did your analyst gig, and then you usually went to business school and came back as an associate at age 26-27. I don't really bother with social media man. I have to question what they're really after. I have friends who are unemployed and nearly broke, that have IG accounts of them living the high life week after week. I also have friends who are extremely successful, well off, and hard working - just don't have the time for that shit. I'd assume any woman with half a brain could see through that.

That is the case. I live in a major urban center with lots of people. My app of choice is generally Hinge (you can open up with something witty and greatly increase your odds). Bumble provides me maybe 1-2 per week worth looking at, Hinge provides 5-8, and The League another 1-2 (lower volume but higher quality on there).

And if I have say - 8 matches in a week that are 7.5s and above... how many does a 7.5+ woman have? It's mind boggling and ridiculous to think about. If I can't find a way to use this stuff effectively and win at it - I'm just going to pronounce it dead. My problem is one of volume. I get on avg 5-10 high quality matches a week (in addition to a number of mid and low qual ones). To meet all of these women - would take out about 10-20 hours a week of my time and probably between $200-600/week if I went to nice bars and bought drinks. There are a TON of women on these things in 2017. They have lots of options, we have lots of options. The question is how do you filter all this shit down and not waste your time and money.

As I'm sure many have told you, it used to be a different world in the 80s-pre Financial Crisis. Wall Street's balls got chopped off in 2008/2009. Everyone who still had them, went out West to the Valley and rode the amazing gold rush up over the past 7 years. People are discrete out there -- but there's still a lot of quirky fun to be had. Unfortunately, high finance does have a cultural norm of being discrete about your wealth. This is dictated by the old conservative white guys at the top, and if you break this, you could be committing career suicide. You need to be at least a little careful about your social media (especially if you're connected to all of your colleagues on there). However, that sure as hell doesn't mean you can't have fun. I agree with this. They love to talk about banging Latin American and European tourists to their friends. New York is a special animal, no doubt. But today we live in a world where the marketplace is skewed. Yes, those guys are still few and far between (proven out statistically by declining education rates etc. over many decades)... but in second and third tier cities, top tier women are also few and far between. I don't think human mating behavior and preferences have changed radically since the days of OKC. OKC proved this all out with hard facts.
