Even if that WERE true, what the hell would the point of asking it be? In what way would that information be important at all, besides to just pre-program people to automatically dismiss any man who claims to have been raped, or anyone who claims their rapist was a woman? Why would it matter which is more likely, if your goal is to treat them the same anyway? Obviously, their goal is to NOT treat them the same. That's really disgusting.

No one's saying "Either prove a rape happened or go to jail". There is a middle ground: Nothing can be proven either way. In that case, no one goes to jail. What people here are advocating is that in cases where it can be proven the accusation is false, jail time results. No actual rape victims would have any reason to fear that.

I don't have a lot of faith in things like "Most of the people I've met in real life in group X are reasonable". People tend to suppress their controversial opinions when interacting with people in real life. I'd rather trust what people actually do, anonymous anonymous polls, or voting data.

I would add to that another reason you can't judge a subreddit by a single thread's comments: that every post already has it's own selection bias of who clicks on "comments" for that post. Everyone who saw the title and decided they didn't care, or saw the "clickbait title" tag and decided to ignore it, was not represented in those comments. they can technically ban you from driving in some states and have you fined and imprisoned for years And it's a felony, and felons cannot vote in all states, including Florida, one of the few states that matters in presidential elections. In some cases, a male student is told a date but not the name of the accuser or any of the details of the accusation. That seems particularly bizarre. So regulate it. Just like normal jobs have minimum wages, child labor laws, and safety regulations to keep employers from abusing their employees, so could sex workers. They could even unionise. They'd be better off in a brothel that could be inspected and held accountable than on the street. STD testing would keep their clients healthier, too.

The next step down that line of reasoning is that people will inevitably argue that, when a group of women are killed, it's because of misogyny, and therefore their gender was relevant, leaving us right where we are now. "So argue that it's not misogyny" you may say, but that's pretty much a suicidal thing to do as far as public relations is concerned. This is easier because it's more objective.

The context perfectly agrees with the fragment. The men are dead, the women are just widows or fatherless. If she actually thinks it's better to be dead than without a husband or father, then she should start a charity to go to war zones and shoot widows and fatherless girls in the head, thereby reducing the women's suffering to that of the men.
