….sez a lawyer. But you must stand your ground! Lawyers always want to settle. It makes their life easy. I know. I’m a former criminal defense lawyer and prosecutor. You probably gotta go to mediation, but do your best to manipulate it in your favor. And it’s not binding anyway, unless you stupidly agree to it beforehand. Just make sure not to agree to allow the mediator’s report to be used in court unless you agree.

Mine tried the same thing with the life insurance policy request, but I’m literally almost non-insurable. So, money now or ??? I also found mediation to be a trap. Either that, or my lawyer sucked, which is entirely possible. You know, backroom conversations with her lawyer, stuff like that.

I had a better LIFE response! When I look back on it now I don’t understand how I let her manipulate me to extent she had. It’s taken time, but I could never return to that! Better off financially, adult children, large retirement, moved 2,200 miles away, better climate, new Porsche 911. It’s All Good.

Some women just luxuriate in this s—t. I know. “Mortal Enemy” IS the correct characterization of the new relationship.

Why? It’s usually the fault of the woman that results in divorce. Fault matters!

I married my ex when she was working for a large advertising firm, she got pregnant within the first 1.5 years, never had a job again for the next 44 years, and counting. Hired a cleaning service, kept long acrylic nails, we had a gardener, mobile car detailing, new $90,000 kitchen that she didn’t use, very large river front home, dual 2 car garages, for our 4 cars), very modern 3 story house, terraced riverfront landscaping, etc. she sat in “her” room all day and watched reruns of Perry Mason a…

The Duluth model is pure evil. Check it out and you’ll be flabbergasted! Go ahead, look it up! And this is what they teach judges, cops and prosecutors. I was a criminal defense lawyer for 35 years and dealt with this bullshit daily.

It’s called gray divorce. Many older women are increasingly responsible for divorce petitions; like around 70% of divorces are actually driven by older women who stand to get a large portion of their husband’s net worth. Even if she never had a job, put her 3 kids in daycare at 6 weeks, cooked no meals. That’s how bad it is now.

I love solitude. Now I have it since I moved 2,000 miles away. No more endless arguments, being ignored, or being disrespected. Nirvana. I do what I want, if I want, when I want to. Financially well off. Not interested in forming any kind of romantic relationship for the first time in my life. Blissfully single. My first marriage was at 19, second was at 24. Together 42 years. No longer, and I’m Mc’Lovin it.

We went to psychological couples counseling. After a few weeks the psychologist called me privately and said that she was hopeless and I should get out. NOW! Don’t wait, she’s only gonna get worse. Best money I ever spent.

You could’ve stopped at her becoming a feminist. That says it all.. soon, the divorce will begin once she finds out she can take you to the cleaners!

Well, sometimes it just is, maybe not on your part, but on theirs. I went thru hell, my friend, but I got over it. It’s really, really hard to do, but at some point you have no choice but to let go…. be yourself for a change; let go of negative influences, such as reminders of that relationship. Just push on despite the obstacles.

Man, whatcha doin’? Either move out, or whatever, and get AWAY from her toxicity. It will drive you crazy. I know. I left a poisonous relationship and moved 2,000 miles away, to a place I didn’t know, but I got away from that thing she’d become.

Why not? Just make sure there is no way for her to find out. She will have access to all of your banking information, so if you’ve used checks to pay for things they may be discoverable- unless you have unused accounts that she is not aware of.

Hey,brother, same thing happened to me. 41 year marriage and she didn’t come to my hospital during cancer surgery and she showed in other ways how insignificant I was to her by literally exacerbating late onset symptoms from a concussion I received. I am so done with her….

Face it, she’s over you. I mean, let’s be real here. You should first feel sad, pity yourself, then partial acceptance of your new life, then progress to enjoy your life and your solitude. I don’t know about you, but I consider me to be the perfect person to pay attention to. Just me, finally!

My wife of 42 years never had a paying job and outsourced everything (maids, gardeners, etc.). I made between $800 K to 1.5 M yearly. I moved 2,000 miles away from her.

Oh yeah, me too. We have a vacation house roughly 2,000 miles away from our primary residence. I was having a stay at the vacation house and one afternoon, as I was pissing, and it was pink. Went to urologist, got tests, and was informed that my left kidney was just ate up with cancer. Had to be removed immediately and to see if it had spread beyond what’s visible on scans. She NEVER even visited me. She didn’t move from being in our home on the East Coast. Also took a bad fall down steps head f…

I was locked into a marriage many years and the first 15 to 20 were fine. We weren’t struggling but money was tight. Then I started making money. Like get rich money. The best of everything: Porsches (911’s only), various Mercedes models, Land Cruiser, Maserati’s, ya know, nice cars. Took my wife about 10 seconds to adjust, although much longer for me; suddenly I could buy whatever I wanted, and I wanted the best for her: jewelry ( incl. 6+ carat Diamond ring, cars, expensive clothes, internatio…

Well I as just sick as shit of her attitude toward me. She was apparently in a depression for 20+ years. Gained a lot of weight. Refused to do Any exercise, even a walk in the evening., and I had a gym built into the house. We could have no social friends because she had to get stoned every day starting around 8AM and continually till she crashed. Avoided people, watched TV all day, never made dinner or shopped for me, despite a new $170K tricked out kitchen she never used. Luxury car, 6 carat d…

If she is like my wife, almost everything she said to me, did to me, was nothing compared to the abject loneliness of living with someone who just completely ignores your existence.

Duluth is singularly responsible for many men to lose respect for themselves. It is popular with the judicial system because feminist organizations vocally advocated it’s doctrine to local criminal justice system appointees, who swallowed it hook, line, and sinker. Law enforcement is TAUGHT to find a reason to arrest the Man, and, at all costs, don’t arrest the “victim” whose telling the cop she was enraged when she called the police in the first place, and had NO IDEA they’d make such a big dea…

Whatever you do, don’t stay with your “pseudo-wife”. She’s really not there for you, but for HER. AFTER 42 years of giving gifts like new Mercedes, 6+ carrot diamonds, lots of international expensive vacations (all planned by her), new Maserati, $5,000 handbags, all without her ever earning a cent during our marriage, my wife decided she’d seek a divorce. I mean, why not get a few million from me to support her for the rest of her life (her mother is 90, grandma lived to to 95)?

Oh sure, we tried marriage “counseling”. After 6 sessions the Counselor called me and told me that he thought he was wasting my time because he said she was convinced she couldn’t change her aggressive personality, and I guess that’s right. So I moved 2,500 miles away, I now live in Boulder by myself and am enjoying my final years (I turn 69 next December). Got plenty of money. We were together over 40 years, thank _od I’m away from her!

Gotta get over her BS. Move on or be on your own for a while. I’ve done it. She doesn’t really sound like a self-starter and is obviously in a different place than you, so accept it.
