I don’t know what the gender ratio is on reddit as a whole, but it is safe to say that there is an overwhelming majority of men. I am dead certain that adding /r/twoxchromosomes is a business decision - nothing more, nothing less. Women are a relatively untapped market for reddit, so adding a woman-centric sub to the defaults is a move to appeal more to women, with a goal of increasing overall users.
