For recently divorced menIt’s an amazing feeling when you get to the other side of the pain. I experience life so much different now. I cry harder, I laugh harder, I just have a better pulse on life. I have not actively started to seek to date again. Being 6 months removed from the divorce process starting I really focused on getting myself to a great state. I can say at 32 I am mentally and physically in the best shape of my life. I do hope to find the same scenario as you where you find your person so easily and it’s … | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/01/25 02:46 PM
36M, how is datingIf you’re confident in yourself and enjoy having conversations it really comes more natural than you think. You end up realizing how much experience you have being with one woman that it becomes easy to just relax and let things flow. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/09/24 01:22 AM
It’s doneYou’re allowed to feel that way man. I did for so long and I can say I really just opened myself back up after her being gone for two months. Just focus on you at this point. I also think about all her great traits. You know what I also think about all the bad things she put me through. She truly took away my happiness at the same time. Your person wouldn’t want to leave, she would want to work on it. I now know she will never be my person and that’s okay. You should feel the same in due time. | 7 | What do you think people usually get wrong about you and your divorce? My first thought was what was everyone going to think. Being married only for a year and a half. On the outside we looked great together. It was a huge shock to everyone, family included. The only thing that matters is how you feel though. I’ve thrown away the stigma. In the end she made the decision, but I’m starting to feel it was for the best. Love shades a lot of things in a relationship. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/08/24 05:00 PM
What are some if the red flags in the beginning of the relationship that you missed? After the honeymoon phase wore off she wouldn’t be intimate much with me. Had sex once a year if that. Stupid to not get my needs met for so long. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/08/24 12:57 AM
Being alone is hard!At least you have kids to help get you through! | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/08/24 01:32 AM
Being alone is hard! That’s solid advice for sure. I was in such a hole for the last couple of months with the misery that was hoping my wife would help me dig out. In the end I do need to rely on myself more and you’re right I need to hold myself accountable. Once I have a routine down I need to stick to it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/08/24 11:23 PM
Being alone is hard!Love that advice. I do really want to get a better sense of style for sure. That was my first thought. Also was thinking about changing up the hair style and maybe pull off a mustache or goatee or something new other than the beard. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/08/24 11:20 PM
Being alone is hard!Solid advice for sure I get where you’re coming from. Sometimes it may be best to look back and look at all the hard times and remember you got through it all. I think about how much I sacrificed for my wife it was never enough. You’re right though I need to create my own happiness. I have relied on her for too long to try to make me happy. I truly lost myself in it all. Just longing to get back to the old me in a sense. Not the full old me because that’s impossible but a new version. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/08/24 11:19 PM
Just Really Missing HerThe wave of divorce is a wild ride of emotion. I have had so many good weeks straight and then it hits you all at once. I know it’s hard to think about, but think of all the positives and the new future you can make. Don’t turn the page completely until you take all that happened before and learn from it. I’m currently in my final week at the house my wife and I built together basically. I’m struggling packing and getting my mind straight. I know once I’m gone though I can really focus on me and… | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/07/24 12:31 AM
What songs helped you ?I play the great trifecta from Staind in this order: It’s been a while Outside So far away It’s like a story. You don’t feel yourself, you are mad at the girl for doing you wrong, then you get so far away from the pain and realize you’re going to be okay. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/07/24 12:48 AM
Thoughts on being divorced at 25 without kids?Hey man I’m 32 and am getting divorced with no kids. May seem rough at first or scared of the stigma of it all like I was, but you have your whole life ahead of you! Even at 32 I have so much time to get it all figured out. I will say just let things come to you. That’s my mindset going forward. I’m not going to go after anything unless it’s for me. Great things will happen if you just let it be. As they say “it is what it is, wasn’t meant to happen any other way” | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/07/24 02:06 AM
One and a half year marriage ended abruptlyNothing I did wrong. She’s just not in love with me anymore. Nothing I can do with that can’t force anything. In turn as I start to get through all the pain I realize we didn’t communicate our needs well to each other. I personally think she’s pushing me away because I didn’t have the strength to do it. She just didn’t want to work to fulfill my needs and validate my feelings. In turn I got depressed because I wasn’t getting my needs met or my love language taken care of. Then I was only able to… | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/06/24 08:04 PM
One and a half year marriage ended abruptlyI left out all of that stuff. I immediately asked for marriage counseling and she said no. She also knew I was going to ask for that and was ready for it. She had a long time to think about it and become calculated in her response. No cheating her either she just does not have the emotional bandwidth to be with someone. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/06/24 10:44 AM
One and a half year marriage ended abruptlyVery well said. Takes a lot of thinking and self reflecting during this process to fully escape and just be yourself again. I work everyday to be better to myself and the people around me for sure. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/06/24 03:16 AM
| 3 | One and a half year marriage ended abruptlyThank you for such kind words my friend. Being that it is men’s mental health month as well we all need to look out for one another. I think it is truly important to ask your guy friends what’s really going on with them. I am lucky enough to have a bunch of them on my side who care and have been getting me through it. Every time I feel I’m on the other side that one little thing happens that pulls me back down. I will say every time something happens now the pain fades quicker though.
