I can relate, I was similarly awkward at your age. The reality is, nobody has a magic bullet that will suddenly make you a socializing expert. I discovered a great barbershop a year ago, and I won't be going to a "salon" ever again. The stylists who work in salons have prioritized their haircutting education and experience on women's hair (perms, highlights, god knows what else). They mostly cut women's hair. The barbers who work in barbershops specialize in cutting men's hair. The quality was evident after my first time in there, and it shows up every subsequent visit.
