His clock is ticking too. His sperm quality drops at the same rate as your egg quality. He's lucky to have the opportunity of being your partner. If you think he's 'good seed' just go ahead and have a kid if you want; if he decides to bugger off then it's his loss.

48 year old Single father of two kids (both with disabilities) myself; it's totally this. At his age he's going to always put his kids needs first, he lives inside of a lifelong econnomic plan and you are choosing to enter into a relationship where your economic capacity is a primary factor if you plan on sticking around long term. If you don't want to be in that situation date someone younger without kids.

Walk away, he's not worth your time. If you're going to be a doctor and he basically nothing he should be thanking you for being with him and making plans to be a househusband.

Im gonna be brutal, only warning, don't read further if you don't want a brutal response... . . . . It sounds like he's just floating along with you so he won't be alone. He's a shitty, selfish asshole that abuses and uses you. Add in the the fact that he's not fucking you (and a man can 'fuck' a woman to climax without a hard dick if we wants to, just ask any lesbian) and it basically means you're a live in maid/supplemental income generator. You're 33. In regards to kids it's shit or get off t…

If you plan on having kids keep in mind that mating with a man significantly older then you increases your chances of congenital birth defects, lower general intelligence, and a host of other issues due to the degradation of the quality of sperm. People speak about the issues of the 'time limit' on womens egg-fertility but pretty much ignore the 'expiration date' on mens sperm-quality.

You're a fully employed, self reliant, scientifically inclined woman. Drop the sceevy old man and start spending some time dating nerdy guys. Use a dating app and put in your intellectual interests, if you're into gaming, larping, or cosplay you will find a lot of smart, competent guys that although not as conventionally sexy as an underwear model will be enthusiastic lovers and potential partners. I was quite hot in my youth, but always ended up dating women that my friends would consider unatt…

If there is no longer any intimacy between him and them it would be good for him to have platonic female friends that do know him really well, understand him in the context of being in a relationship, and can be there for him when he needs advice, support, or friendship. When I got married I pretty much lost contact with the rest of my life. All my female friends got blacklisted by my wife, and I was friends with a number of my exes. 16 years and a divorce later I really resent her for forcing t…

You just described my girlfriend. The woman I fell in love with eight years ago. We've been together ever since.

This! It's not that big of a deal. My ex of 12 years had it when we met and I never contracted it from her and she rarely even mentioned it let alone had any significant outbreaks.

If I didn't already have kids and a girlfriend I think I would ask you to marry me! Your post was poetry.

I don't get why this is an issue. You are taking a year off dating, and I assume sex, to improve yourself. Nobody has any right to question why you are doing it. Any one that does is not worth dating anyway.

I think you mean same sex reproduction is not possible for humans. Parenting is just a matter of who shows up every day and puts in the effort of raise the kid right.

He thinks of you as a positive part of his life. We all look for that constantly. If he is the same for you then just keep doing what you are doing with whatever compensations life throws at you. Congratulations, sounds like love to me.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
