They're pretty damn prevalent. At the very least enough to claim that being gay is not safer than being straight all else being equal. http://www.lgbtqnation.com/2010/11/report-gays-lesbians-more-likely-to-be-victims-of-violent-hate-crime-than-any-other-minority/ http://www.youthprideri.org/Resources/Statistics/tabid/227/Default.aspx http://news.bostonherald.com/news/regional/view/20100425study_bullies_home_in_on_gays

How is that in any way relevant. The person I was talking to said it was not only easier but safer to be gay. That is in no way true. Members of the LGBT community are much more likely to be victims of violent crime or murder than their straight counterparts. Straight guys get harassed, mugged and beaten all the time Perhaps, but not at much as gay men do. Which is the claim I was making.

When was the last time you were beaten up by passing strangers because you were holding your girlfriend's hand in public?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
