It harkens back to a time when leaving a reservation was punishable by death for Natives. They were originally little more than prisons. Some reservations to this day are listed as Prisoner of War camps by the Department of Defense.

Is this it? (Don't know how to archive, sorry) http://nytimes.com/2016/03/12/world/europe/murder-of-abusive-husband-casts-stark-light-on-domestic-violence-in-france.html

They're only making those accusations because they think they'll get laid.

she's completely right. you dont need a study to tell you if it actually happens or not if you experience it every day. Individually? You're right. However, that is anecdotal, and can only serve as evidence of the isolated individual's situation. To paint something as a sociological issue or part of a widespread pattern, you need a helluva lot more than " it happened to me this one time".

So she's more concerned with fixing the blame than fixing the problem...lovely.

It seems to me that either A) she's right: you do mistreat her, in which case continuing this relationship is not fair to her, or B) she's frivolously claiming that you mistreat her in which case continuing the relationship is not fair to you.

I don't mind answering at all. Though i was with a lot of kids who were in the system I was never actually in the system myself. Thankfully, my situation was a temporary one (I was only there fir about two years) but the experience did afford me a really close look at what these kids go through.

Can comfirm. I spent two years of my childhood in a group home full of boys caught up in the foster care system.

My God, I can relate to so much of that! I would say it's errie, but like you said it's all too common. I am glad you were able to turn it around and got the support you needed. Congratulations on your graduations. Also how fucked is it being a kid on Depakote? I mean I don't know about you but it's been 20 years and I still cringe to think about it.

Why not just cut the crap and just go ahead and say it: " men should be stripped of all sexual agency...y'know for equality".

Why exactly would a 'strong woman' "need a man who has more ambition and doesn't rest on his laurels"?

it's often a cultural thing. Some cultures celebrate beards, others see them as unsanitary ( for example I come from one of the latter), but it's really not something that should go beyond your own face. If someone wants to wear a beard it's really no ones business but his own

I have worked many years in journalism, photography and photojournalism being one of my fortes. I've experienced this level of intimidation exactly three times in my career from an outlaw biker gang, a white supremacist group, and a law enforcement agency that I will not name here. These kids are in good company.

A note to the photojournalist in the audience: this is why a telephoto lens is invaluable.

Speaking as a person of color: I like how the race of these young men became a factor in a story that had little to do with race. Speaking as an editor: facepalm.

Yeah, the damned parentheses -.- (sorry, but I have ADHD (doctors confirmed it) and I can't write any other way as that would mean re-structuring a sentence dozens of times (everytime my lightning fast mind has something new to put in) and that would take ages) Everything else in this discussion aside, I have ADHD and I am a newpaper editor by trade. You may want to find a new excuse there, bud.

"Pussy pass" or no, I'm sure one of the teachers being the daughter of a retired judge doesn't hurt. Edit: I hate you, autocorrect

Is it just me or do prosecutors have a harder time deciding to file charges when the accused party's daddy is a judge? * Cough Zimmerman /cough * Edit: I forgot to put the "d" in "harder"... in respect to the topic at hand I will forgo the obvious innuendo

Only when it's productive IMO. Then again there is at least one sub soley dedicated to mockery of this one, and a list of users posting in this sub is being compiled as we speak for God-only-knows-what reason.

Why would she have to be caught up in 3rd wave feminism for you to tell her to cut the grass? She is probably going to have a lawn of her own someday. She might as well learn yard care before she does.

I made the list by making a joke about bathing and Jessica Valenti's tears. Hey, if jokes are going to get me blacklisted... Q: why did the SJW cross the road? A: THAT'S OFFENSIVE!!!!!

Can we think up a male version of having your “panties in a bunch”? Perhaps this guy’s jock strap is too tight, or if he doesn’t play sports we can say his tinfoil hat is on fleek. My mother used to use "get your ass on your shoulders" as the male equivalent...I'm helpful!

No. Not only no but HELL NO. This is just a mono/poly relationship. If he's happy, and she's happy, then great, but it has - to borrow an expression from our British friends- fuck all to do with feminism. The fact that he is a stay at home dad has more to do with feminism than her banging other guys. Edit: autocorrect Hayes me Edit 2: FUCK!

Hello, 6'2", and 290 lbs here, so I feel you on this. take it from me: according to society at large, in vitlrtually any situation, You. Are. The. Bully. This is one of the reasons I don't go bar hopping or clubbing. A lot of times there's always this one Napoleon complex having dude whose body chemical structure is one part whisky, and one part piss & vinegar decides he wants to prove he's a bad ass by picking a fight with the biggest guy in the room (often me, or I am in the running at least) …

I believe "no" means "no" every time, but you have to actually say the word "no". Not to victim blame, but if she didn't feel safe enough with him to say "no", what the hell was he doing in her apartment?
