Am I Doing Divorce Wrong? Is This Calm… Normal?Yes and no, case by case. First off, you are good! Whatever comes will be good and will get better! My related experience: since my relationship was fucked up and emotionally dead years before I demanded divorce I had, and 2.5 years later still have no grief or remorse. I managed to find new woman to share life with and I'm happy in my new relationship. Kids are the wild card. As you move out and move on, weather you want or not you see them less, you spend less time with them, and you lose some… | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/08/26 05:17 PM
Men that initiated their divorces, what things led you to that decision and what was the straw that broke the camel's back?I knew I will not grow old with her for a while but I was thinking I'll hold off for a bit longer because of the kids. At some point the abuse, screaming and insults in front of them became too much. It was a silly argument in a car that made me realize it. Looking back I should have demanded the divorce 5 years earlier precisely because of the kids. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/08/26 06:41 PM
Experience going to court?Nothing you mention matters without the context. How long were you married? What state? Kids? How much of that wealth is from before marriage? Can any of that wealth be claimed as separate? How much do each of you make? Honestly, it sounds like you didn't speak to any lawyer yet, and you are well overdue. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/12/25 06:48 AM
Alimony 20+ year marriage in 50/50 state.. what do you pay"50/50 state" is not be enough. In WA a 20-year marriage is about 5 years of alimony max 8. 25 years is pretty much a lifetime. Your stock, part-time work, no work, and past cancer situations are also very particular. Depending on how collaborative or litigative she is (will be), she may try to claim she can not work full time, or her career was impacted to the point where additional compensation is needed. Consulting a lawyer of your state of residency would be your best option. ChatGPT is surp… | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/02/25 07:55 AM

A three year marriageI'll keep my fingers crossed that no witch takes advantage of you as you seem ripe for it. I don't think there is any standard or recommended time. When you're ready, you're ready. Take chances, cut corners, enjoy and live on! | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/04/24 12:39 AM
Lawyers opinions and rankings (WA)That is pretty much what I did, I called, got few talks and picked the guy that seemed most about getting shit done and not about selling me sugar cones. I'm more curious to try to find out what the other lawyer is like of possible at all. | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/04/24 12:44 AM
Precidence for non court order monetary assistance. That is on top of child support, no alimony or spouse support. For the duration of the divorce process, once the ruling is out this is done. Once we divide the assets it's her deal how she handles them and where she puts her money. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/03/24 05:09 PM
Precidence for non court order monetary assistance.I'm working on somehow similar arrangements with my wife for the separation that is due to happen in 2 weeks. She wants to stay at the house, I'm fine with that because of the kids, she cannot afford to just take over the mortgage. As of now (still in works), in addition to child support, I'm offering half the difference between mortgage and similar sized home rents in relatively close area. I personally would be cautious with support beyond case resolution. This is in WA. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/03/24 02:49 PM
