These kinds of dresses are my favorite! They're almost easier than leggings and a t-shirt, and just as comfy, but they look like you care and you tried. Throw on some cute flats or sandals and a little jewelry and basic make-up and you're good to go! 15 min out the door.

CORRECT. OMG I think we live with the same person somehow. Also, serving utensils, pots & pans, bakeware, etc. don't get clean in the dishwasher, they must be hand washed. Or in our case, run through the dishwasher then later hand-washed by me so they're actually clean. HAHA

OH WOW are you looking in my windows and brain? LOL You can ask me to do it or show me how it's done, but not both. I have really learned this lesson in recent years. If the things get done, I don't need to worry about or control HOW they're done. It was hard to let go at first, but has saved me so much work and frustration. I try to remember that my SO had a full life that he managed well until I came along, he doesn't need me or anyone critiquing how he loads the dishwasher (it seems we take i…

Absolutely! I think being conscious of your patterns and behavior is half the battle, then actively working to change the patterns is the other half. It sounds like you're pretty self-aware. I think we all struggle with being intentional instead of just a knee-jerk reaction based on emotions. Good luck smoothing things out later today, I'm sure as long as you both are open to calm communication everything will be fine :)

I was in the same position as your boyfriend in a previous relationship, and being on the receiving end of the silent treatment is FUCKING AWFUL. I would have rather had him scream at me and tell me what is wrong. Our pattern became: I would do something that upset him and I only knew he was upset because he would go QUIET. I would ask him what's wrong, with his only response being that if I didn't know what I did wrong then there was no point in even bringing it up. So I would spend hours or so…

Yeah, this would be a major red flag deal-breaker for me. In my experience it won't get better as the relationship progresses, he will just get more insecure and jealous. Tread carefully.

Thank you!! My progress is slow but I see it. It's becoming easier as I get further away from the trauma of my marriage. I'm glad to know that it is possible to trust again with someone worthy of my trust.

This is something I'm currently working on. I trusted my ex-husband endlessly, I really wanted to believe that he lived his life in a way that was thoughtful and respectful of me. But every few years he would find some woman on a school or business trip and have a "relationship" with them - as far as I know it would only be e-mails and texting after the trip was over, I believe him that nothing physical ever happened, but the betrayal was real. Over the course of our 9 year marriage I can count …

And I agree. But there is this phrase that's popular with SJW's: "Intent vs. Impact" They say it as if that is the final word -- it wasn't what you meant, but how it was received. I'm sorry but I can't believe in a world where I am responsible for everyone's feelings about everything I say, or where anyone but me is responsible for my feelings and response. Especially when I am a well-meaning person who would honestly never say anything to offend or hurt someone on purpose. The world doesn't rev…

Absolutely! Very real. And I've certainly become aware of my own WP and that's valuable!!

Women have more power than the feminist movement wants to give us credit for. In many cases, we have the power to manipulate men into doing (almost) anything for us. That's a powerful thing we need to be careful with, but also a beautiful thing.

Yes. Not everything is a personal attack. We are all just doing the best we can.

OMG YES YES YES to all of this. ~TrAnSgUy~ is SO accurate. And the ice cream metaphor -- PREACH! How can anyone possibly be expected to know every little thing that may "trigger" (this term bugs me too) someone else, SJW or otherwise. It's extra frustrating because we're ON THE SAME SIDE, we have no problem with him being whatever gender he wants to be, live and let live. Brought a housewarming gift, drove over an hour each way to take them out to dinner, trying to maintain and grow the friendsh…

Until recently I was friends with a transgender SJW. My SO and I went out for dinner with him and his girlfriend, and over the course of the evening my SO made some comments that in hindsight I can see as potentially offensive (including a big truck/small penis joke -- standard "cis" stuff) and my SJW friend literally shut down and started acting like a child, huffing and puffing and eye rolling. I tried to explain that he's trying to be funny, it's a joke.... and his response was "well, I can s…

a "WE WELCOME EVERYONE" mentality Isn't it funny how SJW's claim this, but anyone who goes against their values is immediately shut down? Problematic at best.

Well said, I have a different/similar story. I did most of a masters degree at a SJ heavy university, and a lot of the rhetoric didn't sit well with me, especially the feminism and white privilege. I got tired of feeling bad about myself just because I am white and haven't "suffered" in the same way as marginalized people, and I got tired of trying to be fit into the SJ worldview of what it means to be Feminist. I quit the program, and am learning how to embrace my femininity in a relationship w…

When I share an anxiety or concern, he validates my feelings and then logically explains to me why I don't need to worry because he is taking care of me. He has things under control. I'm coming out of a somewhat emotionally abusive marriage, and he is able to distinguish between valid concerns I have for our new relationship and old insecurities that creep in from the old one. I feel emotionally safe for the first time in my life.
