I could argue this isn’t a universal experience of men but one of men who have a hard time attracting women. It’s not a stretch to conclude that a guy who isn’t appealing to women has to do a shit load more work than a guy who is. Or that a guy who desperately covets something he can’t get starts to pedestalize the unobtainable and starts referring to women as “prizes” and gives them much more power in his mind that they actually have.
