You did good. You validated his feelings. It's good to listen to someone's story and repeat back to them a short summary of what they told you and the feelings they're expressing. People want to be understood first & foremost before they're told anything else (like advice, compliments, etc). For him to open up to you like that shows a lot of trust and that you're doing well in the relationship. He may have had short dismissive replies because either : He doesn't know how to accept compliments (v…

You're right, I believe that most guys wouldn't like it. But it's great for the sensitive/depressed types that could benefit from a little compliment book.

My boyfriend thought i was being creepy befriending all his FB friends, even the ones i hadn't met before. But i had to in order for them to see my FB messages. So there is a risk of looking like a crazy girlfriend if you go down this route unless you already know all his friends and they can keep a secret for a little while. Here is the book i bought on a whim one day. https://www.amazon.com/Knock-Youre-Awesome-Fill-Journal/dp/1601065477

I bought one of those tiny books with 30 fill-in-the-blank statements of "Why You're So Awesome", then i wrote each fill-in-the-blank statement in a Google doc, then linked that doc to all his friends and asked them to answer one or more of them, then i wrote their responses in that tiny book. When i gave him the book, he looked amused, then confused, then he started to cry and buried his face in my chest. He rarely ever cries around me. Since then, he said he keeps the book in his desk at work …

The best advice i got came from a quote someone told me from a book that read book (Blink or Power of Now) : Next time your find yourself in that negative thought cyclone, ask yourself "What do I want to think of next?" This question should remind you that you have control over your thoughts. So you can CHOOSE to keep thinking of the terrible things about yourself, or you can CHOOSE to think of better things. You have a choice, because you have control over your thoughts.

That might make the other two guys angry and things may escalate from there. Some girls are into the bravado overly protective type of guys, but there are some who aren't. You need to know what kind of girl you're dealing with.

And if she isn't the confrontational type, she would have given a hint to OP that those other two guys were making her uncomfortable. However, if I was the girl, I wouldn't have wanted OP to just sit back and do nothing. I like how OP tried to cockblock the two guys with gregariousness.

I love this. Don't be afraid to exist, to take up space in this world. "IF YOU WON'T TALK, SHE WON'T KNOW YOUR COCK. EXIST. "

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
