To answer your other Q. Don't ever ask. Tell her. "Let's go back to my place for a two person after party" if you escalated the date well. If not give her a reason based on what you talked to her about. She can still refuse, but asking her makes you sound desperate like you're unsure. She knows what she wants by the end of the date.

Been there too just take it as an experience and lesson. You got a date so take it as a win. I would say read and be well versed with how women think, personal development and self-sufficiency (too many books to list), build up a confident character, learn from your mistakes, know what the end goal is and do what it takes to get it. Nothing replaces real world experience. Practice what you learn and keep what works.
