I'm in a secondary school, so I feel like the backlash won't be as big as those examples you gave. I will try my best to forward the conversation in a way where people realize men and boys need compassion as well. When I was announcing to my classes I mentioned how men and boys need compassion, and that's what got people.

I have told this to one of the antendees before. I am promising every single person in the club that I will try my absolute hardest to minimize harassment, bullying, and backlash. Not by being angry back and being a wall, but by showing the compassion men and boys need and allowing them to join the conversation.

I had the same thought! I was going to show her TedX talk about how she faced her enemy. I've only met a few angry men in my school. It seems as if most of them were unaware of the issues they potentially face until I announced it to my classes. While they were listening they didn't turn angry, they instead thought 'why is it this way?'

Thank you so much. There was a conservative club that started last year but their posters got ripped down and I think they were pressured to disband. I have around 15-20 students who have expressed interest in attending so hopefully we have enough voice to keep the club if the school does try to disband us.

I asked my feminist teacher (Female) to be the sponsor because I want her to challenge her own ideas. Also there aren't many teachers I know who would want to be the sponsor. To me it was a good idea to ask her because I want to have a diverse pool of thought. It's also good for the image of the club, having a female feminist have a voice and a role.

Thank you so much! I've considered calling it Men's Rights Club or Male Empowerment Club. To me all of these sounded aggressive. Especially in an environment of feminism, those names can be taken as a little alt-righty. l chose Men's Issues Club because it makes men vulnerable. When people hear rights or empowerment and men in one sentence, they think men have all the rights and all the power.
