Could be! I would recommend therapy to figure that out (genuinely not a dig, therapy is fantastic for 99.9% of people). I also highly recommend dating yourself for awhile - you’ll learn more about what you like and how you like to be treated, and that will come across when you’re ready to get back out there! It would certainly be a turn off for me, I probably wouldn’t date you because of it. I have dated someone without one in the past, but it was because they had a history of seizures and hadn’t been allowed to get one.

I say I’m not interested, but I also carry pepper spray. I’m planning to get a spyderco civilian, one of the only knives actually recommended as a self defense knife that won’t just get taken away from you and used against you (it was designed for undercover people who couldn’t have a gun and had zero knife training). My SiL’s mum carries one of those electric cattle prod things when she runs (tasers are illegal in Canada). Neither of us wants to die over someone’s fragile ego.

Definitely +1 on the hobbies. I used to spend way too much time seeking validation from others. Now that I have a solid set of hobbies and adore spending time with myself, people have to work HARD to get me to date them. Because if I’m spending time with you, it’s cutting into my me time... so you’d better be bringing something major to the table. +1 on the money too, and I’ll +1 therapy suggestions elsewhere in the thread (lots of places have pay-what-you-can clinics

I once had a tinder date who stole (by not returning) my bus pass and backpack. Turned out he had a warrant out for his arrest and was arrested, so at least he didn’t purposely steal it I guess? 😕 Had another one straight up steal my fav duffel bag that I bought halfway across the world though.
