I believe that was fairly true, and what I gave was a very simplified version, but I do believe there has been a tradition in governments / societies that military / public service was required in order to gain the right to vote. It was only in recent history that we were "born a citizen". That was the 14th amendment in the US, which was enacted July 9, 1868.	/r/MensRights	12/06/13 07:49 PM
6	Are we fanatics? I think you mentioned this in one of your videos, but wasn't part of the deal for African-Americans to gain their freedom was to sign up for the military. There has, traditionally, been a requirement that the right to be part of the said government meant you had to sacrifice for said government.	/r/MensRights	12/06/13 06:19 PM
