How are we supposed to help stay-at-home moms, outside of supporting their choice? I’m not even going to bother responding to the rest of your nonsense. Maybe you’re manipulative and that’s why you have an easy time getting women to give you the time of day. You being problematic isn’t anyone’s fault but your own.

Apologies in advance for the novel, but I know things about this topic! Body positivity as a movement was founded in the 1960s to help advocate for fat Black women who encountered (still encounter) bias in medicine and society in general. Then white women latched onto it and centered themselves, as we tend to do. Over the past few years, thin people have tried to change the narrative that body positivity isn’t meant for fat people, when it was literally started FOR fat people. Shoving fat people…

I love all your comments here. 🩷 To a lot of people, existing unapologetically in a fat body without constantly talking about weight loss = promoting obesity. That mindset makes no sense. I’m fat. Nobody ever told me to gain weight. I never looked at fat women and said, “That’s what I want to be!” There are deep-seated issues that led to this, for me, and a few physical ones. Society was still perfectly clear all along that it’s not OK to be fat, fat people are gross, we deserve to be shunned an…

Lizzo is active and a vegan. She eats a variety of foods, many of them healthy, on her TikTok. Or did, when I was watching them. (I unfollowed celebrities.) I’ve never heard her say it’s OK to be unhealthy, but that’s unfortunately what a lot of people interpret when they hear any body positivity talk.

Huh? Have you ever actually watched Oprah, or media coverage of her infamous yo-yo dieting? There was a huge focus on her weight when I was a kid. Media outlets reported every time she slimmed down or regained a bit. She has written and talked at length about all of her weight struggles through the years. Not saying she isn’t known for her talent and projects, too, but her weight has always been a major topic of discussion.

There’s also a subset of men who believe washing their own ass is “gay.” I can’t speak for the mindset of men in the ‘50s when it came to butthole cleanliness, but I’ve talked to quite a few women in the 21st century who are fed up with encountering skidmarks in their partners’ underwear and on bed sheets.

You’re just removing personal responsibility from men entirely here. “We’re not going to stop pestering you for sex, but you have to stop giving it to us or else we’ll call you ran-through whores.”

Better for men, which is all they care about.

Feminism doesn’t demonize women from the 1950s. It points out how shitty their lives were, on average. We demonize patriarchal practices of that time and the men who want to return to it for their benefit. There is a small number of “feminists” who shit on women for choosing to be stay-at-home wives and mothers, claiming they’re setting us back, but true feminism is about ensuring women can choose — even if it’s not what we personally would want to do. The only women I have a problem with are th…
