That’s an interesting point. I’m sure there’s always been some proportion of the population that had abysmal hygiene but yeah I think maybe it has something to do with the culture some men fall into where they have very few irl friends and are on the internet a lot and for what ever reason didn’t have parents who encouraged good hygiene. I definitely understand how mental health can impact these things but I truly don’t understand going out in public dirty in raggedy clothes if you have access t…

That’s fair but I’d argue the issue there is narcissism vs enjoying grooming routines and such. I just feel the word metrosexual describes a well dressed, well groomed man and is used to disparage that as “too feminine” which is bs.

Doesn’t the word metrosexual kind of play into toxic masculinity? Like I wouldn’t mind if a guy groomed as much as I do. If you don’t like that don’t date them but I don’t really see the need to disparage a man who grooms a lot.

Oh my god. What if she had been recovering from an eating disorder or something? Men are the worst.

I agree, it’s definitely not just porn. It is super common in movies and tv shoes for male protagonists in their 40s to have a romance with a 20-something woman. Also older men probably think younger women are easier to manipulate and probably will put up with more of the man’a bs.

I think that’s part of it but truthfully, aren’t those standards everywhere in society? In advertisements, tv shows, movies, music videos etc. Isn’t that why women also feel pressure to look a certain way? Men will say they want a girl who doesn’t wear makeup but what they really want is a girl who wears neutral and subtle makeup.

Agreed, I have friends whose boyfriends always insist they be on top during sex. Why? Because they get to lay back and do nothing.

If you feel nervous take things as slow as you want with a future partner. Have a mindset of exploring and fun. You don’t need to take yourself too seriously (laughing is ok!) and you don’t need to put on a performance. Don’t worry if you feel a little shy etc. I’d say the only thing that could be “bad” about being shy is if you can’t express when something feels good or bad or you want them to stop. Or, if you have body image issues, that is something you could work on to make yourself feel mor…

Same, when I was a teen (10-15 years ago) periods were so shameful still, people barely even used euphemisms for them. Surely we’ve moved past having to hide our bodily functions?

Yes!! Even when some men compliment, if it is a thoughtful one, I appreciate it (eg the colour of that top really suits you) vs the usual lazy male compliment of You’re pretty or “you have a great shape” 🤮

Right? Also incredibly disrespectful to lgbt people who are actively discriminated against and treated like predators even when they aren’t. He’s sick.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
