You complain in your post about women dismissing the struggles men face yet trivialise the same struggles when faced by women. Everyone has a hard life. The linked study shows that suicide attempts are not disproportionately male, which directly refuted your argument, and your premise was based on extremely simplified biology existing outside of a social structure. There was a time just a few months ago when I thought I was finally gonna take the leap. Really, if you ever want to reach out and talk I’m here for you, regardless of our differing opinions on this. Shifting from facts to personal anecdotes, women I know who have attempted have chosen drugs/alcohol or cutting because it’s more peaceful and seems less painful than other methods so maybe it’s something to do with that. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a huge issue that so many men, especially young men are killing themselves, but picturing it as a men’s health issue just because women are less likely to succeed is counterproductive. Hey man, this is a serious issue but you should know, women tend to be more likely to be diagnosed with depression and attempt suicide. It’s just that the majority of female suicides are pill overdoses or cutting, which are a lot more reversible and less likely to work than hanging or gunshot wound.
