Wait wait wait. I'm new here. How was her taking his hat a shit test? What would have been the appropriate response in this instance? Coughcoughpow makes it sound like the game was over once she initiated the shit test but that doesn't make any sense.

Really? It seems like such a lame line to me. I guess it all depends on your character!

You're right, I can't make generalizations, but this is definitely cheating, even if only emotional. I'm pretty sure her boyfriend wouldn't appreciate the idea of his girl acting this way with another guy. Downvote me to hell and back, I don't care. The fact is, even if she ditched the other guy and went for the OP, she's likely to continue her flirtatious behavior with other guys, especially when he's no longer "new and refreshing."

I agree wholeheartedly. I'm not the type of guy that can hold a relationship like the one you did, and we were both supposedly exclusive. This took place a long time ago when I was in high school though, so it's a totally different dynamic.

"I'd love to see you outside of that cash register" had me laughing. I'd definitely say this advise is the best. The whole magic trick seems lame to me unless that's genuinely who you are (as Diece said a couple comments up). The note, on the other hand, is a bad idea in my book. It'd be better to do your trick, make her laugh, get some eye contact and ask her out. Making her read a note reeks of zero confidence and sounds like something that'd make the situation go awkward very quick. I'm not r…

THIS! THIS THIS THIS! I CANNOT SAY IT ENOUGH. TAKE THIS ADVICE! I learned the hard way when I was younger. A year into a relationship I learned the girl had a boyfriend when we had first got together. I stayed with her and she cheated three separate times. I developed a lot of fucked up trust issues because of it that I still struggle with. Heed this advise and back the fuck off.

Sounds like you still had an awesome night. Congrats, man. I hope to work up to that level soon! :) Have you talked to her or anything since or?

This. I'm definitely one of those people that likes to have a group to fall back on in case of failure. It's not as humiliating to get rejected if you have your friends to run back to and laugh it off with. I'm trying to break that mindset, but it's harder than I thought.

I agree with your post, but do you think bringing her friends along was out of insecurity? Or do you think it was more of a desperate attempt to gain validation from her friends? Maybe it was because she didn't know if she liked the guy or not and wanted to have some backup? I'm very introverted and only just now getting started so it's hard to see in my own mind why a woman would want to bring any friends along, especially if she's insecure in not getting enough attention.

Being a bartender sounds like a great gig, but not something that really interests me. I'll probably try to get a job working clothes retail. There are some stores nearby that would be perfect for interacting with women all the time. Thanks for your advice.

It's not that studying math makes me unmanly, it's just that a lot of women my age don't understand the importance of a good education. A lot of them are in school just to be doing something, and I'm in school for a career that I'm very serious about. I know, I want the girls that are passionate about their futures too, but they're obviously harder to find. Right now I'm just trying to funnel as many girls as I can for experience, not worry about finding the right one for me. The more interestin…

Thanks, I'll take a look into that program then. I have a really, really good body for lifting weights but I've been lazy about it.

Lmao @ Building models. That's definitely true. I'm gonna see if I can get a friend of mine to go with me to a club. I want to frequent raves and that kind of thing but I've never done it before. :x

When I was a kid I was pretty bomb at football, but basketball is my sport now. I definitely like to play, just don't like to spend three hours on the couch watching a game. Maybe you're right that I'm trying to change myself for others, but I'm a really introverted guy, so it's not only for that reason. I want to be more lively and interesting for myself to increase my confidence. Sorry if I made it seem like I was only changing to please others. That's not really the case, but I do admire ever…

I was thinking about getting into some type of dance class. Maybe I'll do that this summer. Thanks for your input!

Good point. I should mention that having a small working knowledge of cars is beneficial for me both ways, and cooking is something I'm interested in as well. Your point is the reason why I'm not obsessing over sports. I never really liked watching them, and I'm not going to change who I am in an attempt to be liked by others. Thanks for your advice!

This was a really interesting read, thanks. I really liked the bit about complimenting a girl's effort rather than her looks (because she hears that all the time, right?) and answering the phone by speaking the person's name. I've been called by a girl twice and both times I pulled the "Hello?" quote. I wish now that I'd thought about answering with an enthusiastic expression of her name. Oh well, now I know better. Thanks a lot!

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
