I think emphasizing men hurts your point. True, I'm sure women feel some social pressure based on men's expectations. Male taste here is rather minimalist though. If a woman is not obese and achieves basic grooming standards (less than what the average woman expects of herself, even) she will be broadly attractive to most men. A YT counselor I watch from time to time says that the most consistent dynamic he sees in fading marriages is that the man feels like no matter what he does, it's never enough, and the wife absolutely agrees.
