A big 4 global professional services firm told me this during orientation for an internship. The common theme and main point of advice was "Be comfortable with being uncomfortable". The way I've integrated this into my life is: Calling people out and raising the issue when someone screws me around (i.e. overcharging you, screwing up your order, giving you the worst seats at the restaurant etc etc) instead of just dealing with it and staying quiet.
