I love it when people bring up the Hedonism Treadmill. Such a great biological drive but also makes life depressing because you can never get enough. This is also why shooting for material things in life is never the key to happiness. Happiness is an internal state. The OP should realize he is happier because he proved to himself that he can accomplish goals.

This is a TRP summarized version of No More Mr. Nice Guy. If you liked this post read that book. There is no such thing as true altruism. Accept this fact alone and you will do better. You do nice things for people for two reasons: one is to get something back in return which is coming from low value and two is you do something nice to show that you have power which comes from high value. I think this post is missing this side of the equation. To be fair it's hard to get so powerful that you can…

I love this post! We too often victimize ourselves rather than trying to recognize our mistakes and fix them. The only problem is not to ruminate on things for too long. This will cause depression and not allow us to be present. Maybe Nick was ruminating on what he did wrong and that is why he is freezing up with women. You really need to find that happy medium and get advice from either reading or more importantly a third person view. This is a hard game to play with yourself. If you made the m…

I'm glad we agree. I understand of not caring what others think but NPCs in video games cannot retaliate when people IRL can. The acknowledgment of this is why people have those fears. This is probably the more concise version I should have went with but I was in a writing mood.

I think it may be dangerous to think of people as NPCs. I get that you should put yourself first but it seems like red pill takes quite a bit of its philosophy from evolutionary psychology. If you make people feel like you only will interact with them if you want something they will start trying to outcast you. This should be fine in places with high autonomy such as a bar or you are out of town but eventually people will start holding grudges. I read a segment in evolutionary psychology that ta…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
