I agree that people generally have more empathy for female victims but there are more things at play here. She's a parent, very clearly not a threat, being executed at point blank range. Don't forget that BLM happened over the killing of George Floyd, a man.

It is a matter of which characteristics decide what gender you belong to. Some people (including me) would argue that brain + hormones outweighs reproductive organs.

They don’t care. They would rather lose and blame men than stop being misandrist and win. It’s more important to them to have a punching bag than to actually be successful.

Yes it's gonna get worse but you cannot exist in society without interacting with men (unless you're a total shut-in) and the more insane their rhetoric gets, the more the average woman will feel whiplash between feminist claims about men and how men actually are. They are already losing a lot of support over this and they cannot account for this because the lack of real issues to tackle has turned feminism into a misandry contest.

Gender equality is not feminist. They may (more or less honestly) advocate for it but that does not mean that the concept is feminist.

Interesting point I just thought of: I wonder if people are more likely to reach for negative reinforcement with men. I.e. when men don’t talk to women but we do want them to, we try to deter them from doing the bad behavior (for example by shaming them as losers/virgins/incels etc.) instead of affirming them for the good behavior (i.e. by being attentive to when men do that and conplimenting them). I would bet money that men receive more negative reinforcement and less positive reinforcement th…

There absolutely is an extremely anti-academic culture that is forced upon (and then also enforced by) boys in schools. Society models masculinity and boys enforce it. The statement that men are technically the ones directly inflicting most of the damage is true. Of course, when people bring that up, they don't mean to help or simply state a fact, they are trying to assign blame to the boys for existing/participating in a very harmful social structure that was forced upon them to begin with. Not…

It is absolutely uncalled for. In principle, telling people to reflect can be fair but here it is being weaponized in an attempt to delegitimize his experience.

The left pushing men to the right and then going „oh no why would those evil males vote for the right“ and then instead of thinking about it going „see this is why women are so much better“ would be comical if I had any humor left for this topic

I mean tbh going outside at night just really isn’t that dangerous for anyone. I think our society greatly overstates the danger, especially to women. People are much more dangerous than the off chance of a serial killer just chilling in a tree where you’re going for a run. My advice would be to just expose yourself to it more I think.

There‘s two kinds of feminists: extremist ones and ones who pretend the former don’t exist. Hyperbolic of course (and not like that doesn’t happen for other ideological groups ever) but still unfortunately largely the case. It’s hard to talk to the latter group about it as well because if you do, you’re putting yourself in an inherently weak position and they will simply lose respect for you.

More proof that conservatives do not care about men either (not that I asked for them to give us more but they certainly did)

I don’t know about anyone else, but to me, posts like that always come off as engagement bait. I also don’t reeaally care too much about the month. My approach and my feelings towards men’s mental health aren’t really dependent on the month. I just try to challenge my biases towards men (something that I‘ve done for women to exhaustion because I believed they were the only people with biases against them). For example, I try not to categorize large men with masculine features as „brutish“.

The last paragraph rings uncomfortably true to be honest. I‘ve been very successful at pretty much everything I’ve ever touched except for socializing and it feels so insurmountable. As if no matter how hard I try, I will never be like everyone else, normal, or bearable. Plus of course, if you decided to have a Y chromosome (dummy) you get 0 empathy and sympathy on any of your problems, your disability is your responsibility, man up, loser, go away. It really does seem like given any of the cate…

Yes it’s very easy to tell whether it’s right or wrong and anybody can easily see that it‘s wrong but it’s such a low-harm issue that bringing it up this way discredits other arguments.

That wont happen, most women our age are convinced that universities are basically the hunger games for women. We need to stop believing that women in positions of power will all of a sudden develop this immense benevolence (in part because assuming women are all empathetic and nice is kind of misandrist but mainly because it wont happen). We have to actually do things ourselves. I recommend you keep a list of how you were discriminated against. Not necessarily with any specific intention, just …

I read that one too and went to check TwoXChromosomes to see how many of their top posts are anti-male hate and I have got to say it was way worse in the past. Now, to be fair, a lot of the posts are specific negative interactions with men which depending on how you take the original comment may constitute talking about men.

I'm sooo worried about this. I'm very afraid that I'll really fall in love with someone and they won't like me because I'm not a feminist. I feel like most women I see are really feminist, especially smart and/or educated ones. Good for you though! This is very encouraging.

I‘ll eat both my chucks if you can show me a good case that a „liberal-designed“ airplane fell apart mid air because of diversity hires. I agree that anti-male diversity hiring is mostly obsolete but proposing that the aviation industry which is notoriously incredibly strict on security would compromise the same for DEI is nuts. The feelings thing is true but only feminists use it the way you criticize. They do so because it gives them an easy way out of caring about the wildly higher rates of s…

It‘s an extremely slippery slope. Representation works and representing sympathy for men will make people more sympathetic towards men. That would be the end of feminism as we know it.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/02/24 09:05 AM

This is the most important point. Neither side has any support for men, both will give you the same exact same harmful traditional gender roles. The only difference (and the reason for the gendered political divide) is that the left is going to be mean to you on top of it. Conservatives do not represent men either, they’re not better, just nicer.

Very frequently in cases of misandry it’s almost perfectly analogous to racism but if you bring that up they’ll usually just end up screaming RACIST RACIST in the hopes of drowning out your argument

It is so annoying and makes it impossible to be taken seriously. Men are just totally polarized against absolutely everything we have to do to advocate for ourselves in a non-toxic, effective way.

The most insane thing is how they include „any contact sexual violence“ instead of limiting it to whatever they consider „physical violence“ to prevent people from realizing there are more male victims than female ones 😀🤗🤗😀

It‘s just a virtue signal. A woman would never give you that advice 1o1 because it’s stupid and no one struggles with treating women as human beings. It’s always said to men in front of other people or about men to other people in order to vaguely gesture at some nebulous oppression where it’s supposedly common place to not treat women as human beings.

A less snarky comment for me: When (at what age) did you transition? This is important so I can categorize your experience correctly. Also, and I can’t really judge this, I just want to know if you have: Have you considered that you are complaining about things at a threshold you learned during female socialization but are now being treated as though you had a male one? I’m assuming that women are more likely to speak up about things that bother them. If that’s the case then I would also think t…

Insecure has always been the no. 2 shaming tactic against men, it’s not at all specific to relationships. Kind of fucked to kick people while they’re down like that.
/r/MensRights05/01/24 02:05 PM

Insecurity or helplessness in men is anywhere from uncomfortable to disgusting to people. I would guess, though I’m by no means sure, that it boils down to a strength/weakness question. Strong, masculine men aren’t supposed to be insecure, hurt or unsure. And even if they ever, somehow are, it would be a weak, pathetic decision for them to not face their problems alone but instead depend on and bother others.

Your instability almost certainly has something to do with the fact that you post, not comment, 5-10 times a day. You’re 22, you should have acquired, as much as I think this often is a toxic trope, a bit more emotional control by now. Have you considered that you’re just horny? I’m a sub with a female supremacy kink and I could’ve written this (at my worst, tbf).

To me it never seems like they’re being malicious about it though. Do you think it’s that they subconsciously decide that it’s a threatening thought to accept or is it a learned response?

Would seem like common sense but in my experience it’s extremely difficult to get feminists to accept this specifically. Don’t know why.

Yea, I generally feel like men’s friendships kind of suck. Now of course, I still find my friendships with men to be more fulfilling than those with women. But why? I feel like that’s because most women seem to hold some kind of general hostility towards men so I have to walk on eggshells around them if I don’t want them to hate me. I don’t think women are held to that same standard and are allowed much more lenience. Men (me included) also seem afraid of committing to platonic relationships too…

Sorry that comment was rather cynical and reductionist. A lot of women are actually perfectly nice people and the things I complain about are (pretty prevalent) trends, which is a bit hypocritical of me because I frequently complain about the same kind of rhetoric from feminists. An „us vs them“ dynamic doesn’t have to exist for anyone except for the people inside the movement. With feminism specifically, most feminists just treat „patriarchy“ as a dogwhistle for „men“, so I think those things w…

Most women who have received feminist socialization (most of them) are absolutely and permanently incapable of imagining that men have any issues (or feelings for that matter). We exist so they can take out their anger on us without hurting their own conscience. I love your idea but it’s absolutely impractical. A movement that can effectively help men (at a decent scale) has to have the same „us vs them“ dynamic that feminism and really all larger movements have, both to keep men interested and …
