First off, I think it's good that you recognized that your looks/glares may not be so inviting. Having gave her a nickname and all, it also seems like you're somewhat comfortable with her? I think you should go in and ask for the date. No tricks or gimmicks to it. Smile when you approach her and maybe you both may laugh at the fact that it took you so long to do it.
