So "conversion therapy" for masculinity is progressive now?

Hello sir, I agree with you and perhaps it's a failing of the words I chose in the article you reviewed; which I appreciate greatly. We do live in a democratic republic. In fact, that is precisely what I was trying to communicate when I replied to my wife, "Janie, we live in a Democracy." The essay is not arguing that we live in a patriarchy. It is examining what happened when the patriarchy framework entered my marriage and became the lens through which our relationship was being interpreted. M…

The real work, at this point, is knowing WHAT to attack in feminism. I'll say this differently, and my poor fingers are hesitant and hate downvotes, because they are stupid and insecure. I am a 3rd wave feminist and so is my partner. The 4th wave is a corrupted movement involving the academic and digital infiltration of harmful gender bias. It's that simple. Most everything up until 3rd wave is pretty reasonable. It got to the point where their movement needed to excel in digital, and they made …

No Sir / Mam I am battling an entire academic apparatus that is accredited, well-funded, institutionally protected. Their entire apparatus for male alignment is supported by chicken bones and egg shells.

I wish that were true. We must achieve Equitable Gender Divorce. Men have finally gotten the message after sixty years. Now, we need to gather our own harms, speak them in a clear voice, and stand as the harmed counterpart to female fear. Religion once housed the fears of both genders, but promoted as aspect of gender subordination. Once we are able to claim our fears as our own, and articulate them as clearly as our feminist sisters have articulated theirs, we can meet each other as equals acro…

Thanks for the post. Men's rights needs to focus on ONE brutalities you have mentioned and make it ours, our voice. This is what made feminism effective. We must apply the same rigor to our own movement. This is my passion.

I appreciate that note. For me, the "internal assessment" narrative is already widely developed thru concepts like the man box, toxic masculinity, and stoicism. Remove "patriarchy" from the discussion, and there are remarkably few accepted frameworks for examining the cultural conditions that may have produced those internal pressures in the first place. My disagreement with the commenter is advocacy toward that end. Not because internal accountability is unimportant, but because the environment…

This, as crazy as it seems, IS THE FIRST STEP IN TRUE EQUALITY. We all need to be organizing for Equitable Gender Divorce. There is a tension there because many of us spent years trying to "lean in" to feminism. But sixty years have made something clear: men are getting the message. The problem is that Equitable Gender Divorce, like any divorce, is a difficult objective. It requires men to organize around our own fears and harms and articulate them in a unified voice. Women have been remarkably …

We both have said that Men and Women are impacted by rape. We both have said that Men and Women are impacted by suicide death. There is public language to describe one of those patterns and and not the other. This is a tricky subject to navigate and at this point, I need to leave this message here. **You are not alone**. In the U.S., you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available any time.

I appreciate your perspective, really I do. I am sorry to you personally if this strikes you in this manner. I too have been struck by the same, and, finding courage seems to be tricker now than it ever has been before. You seam like a very reasonable person with a very VERY legitimate claim, and I appreciate you sharing your thoughts with me.

I'm not interesting in a contest with you about what you find to be moral. I am interested in how fears and harms shape society and the hermeneutical injustice around male suicide.

How do I know Rape Culture is "wrong"? This is what I mean I can't speak to the female experience. Rape Culture is here, it arrives as ordinary, influences schooling, academia, and many aspects of modern life. Why are you asking me to comment on it's righteousness? Your argument is w/ another.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/06/26 06:42 PM

I disagree, and can't speak for the female experience, nor comment and control it. I know what is here now, and we live in a progressive society.

The lack of compassion in this sentiment is troubling for me, and fails to address social pressures that may impact a self assessment of worth. "Rape culture" does something powerful for the female experience. It acknowledges that a look, a glance, a comment, a proposition, or a forcible encounter can all exist on the same continuum of social pressure. The framework invites us to examine not only the act itself, but the environment in which the act occurs. It creates space for a woman to hear th…

It maybe would be, until a bear attack. Imagine that - the blessing of being "frightened" by a bear, instead of a man. So, here we are, the death and expense of men of millennia provide us this society that we now have the privilege of hating. I hope you are doing well friend, and hope you know that you are valued. I've been writing extensively on this dark period for "ordinary men" and just wanted tor each out and say, I hear you - I see you, and am hoping for you.

That's actually very close to the question that led me toward fiction in the first place. If people don't naturally notice a form of suffering, can a story make them notice it in a way an argument cannot?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/06/26 09:07 PM
2

That's encouraging to hear. Did you find readers were willing to engage with the theme once it was embedded in a character's story rather than presented as an argument?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/06/26 08:37 PM
14

I do. Honestly, that's probably been the central challenge of the project. The moment readers feel an author is trying to deliver a conclusion, the story starts to collapse into argument. I've been trying to approach it from the opposite direction and let the characters encounter the consequences of the system rather than stopping the narrative to explain why the system is wrong. One of the reasons I chose fiction instead of an essay is that people can disagree with a thesis. It's harder to disa…

Please downvote me. Raped? "Making light of Female on Male Rape"? Get the $%$ real. What's shitty, is that you maybe experienced something like this in your life that had a real impact. But that is so far to the left of the rape spectrum that to magnify it as a lived reality for men, takes the air of the room of Harm. On Balance, Men, simply, do not fear rape. On Balance. You are killing equality for men. Or maybe this is the current brand of the MRA? Take every harm that women are known to expe…

Then learn your power. Your power, our power, is in our pain. If we are being maligned with narratives about how privileged men are and how oppressed women are, one of the social graces we need to become comfortable with is learning how to pivot the discussion. As macabre as this sounds, we need to be able to speak about the male suicide gap. We need to be able to explain, dispassionately and clearly, that the pressures placed on men to be productive and preferred by women contribute to an exces…

Modern sociology and social scientists are the polar/gendered opposite "elite" that need to be targeted and dismantled. Oh they're processing the study They're just taking a while to figure out how to incorporate into their already existing, corrupt narrative.

Yeah, and the part that almost never gets mentioned is female selection. Not in the childish “blame women for everything” way, but in the obvious social reality way: men build themselves around what women reward. If women select for competence, provision, confidence, strength, ambition, emotional control, risk tolerance, etc., then men are going to orient themselves around becoming those things. We see who's getting preferred and we make ourselves into that (if we're not "alpha males" if that ev…

100% We have tragically failed as a movement. I believe that might be the first step, acknowledging that. It’s just not, though. And for the sake of men’s rights, we have to be able to call bullshit when we see it. Fear and harm are the foundation of gender-rights discourse. Women claimed rape as the defining female fear, and because the harm is real and serious, the moral language of gender formed around it. Men’s harm is suicide. Around 30,000 more men than women die by suicide every year in the United States. Not ideation. Not “attempts.” Finality. Bodies. And yet there is no equivalent cultural …

Being able to select a woman driver in uber, should not cause outrage for anyone serious about men's rights. This isn't a "where's this going next thing" This is common sense. EDIT - I mean the downvotes have spoken which I respect - but my point is that, in any war, gender war not withstanding, if everything is a priority then noting can be. It’s bullshit to pretend men on balance fear being killed by women or raped by a man or woman. It bothers me that men are still trying to steal this particular harm's thunder. And in the sense that it does occur, I have no doubt it occurs, but as men walking through the world, we generally do not fear being raped. Only someone with zero empathy, or zero curiosity, could fail to imagine that women do walk through the world carrying a fear of rape. Men simply do not carry that same fear on balance…

This is too much of an AI post for me to take seriously. But in case anyone is wondering, some of the bullets are indicators of a Fourth Wave defensive line. They want to frame the harms men experience purely as constructs, or products, of a patriarchal society. They refuse to allow female selection agency into the equation. When you hear "Get Therapy," that means you are getting close to naming the Matriarchy. Women are a part of culture as it relates to rape culture. So too are they as it rela…

Men, errrrr, "elite men" "WON." But what feminism FAILS to understand is that everything we did, we did to get an "ALPHA FEMALE." It's been matriarchy the whole time. No one "lives" to admit it because men "off" themselves to the tune of 30K more than women a year. The survivors of their side of the "bargain" write all of academia, so it's all we hear about day in and day out. Meanwhile, we, for whatever reason our conscription demands, continue to just "opt out" of this existence in favor of th…

Oh of course. This is everywhere now. Body positivity: “No Boys Allowed.” Meanwhile, their rhetoric is only causing female disease. Look at the obesity stats. In developed capitalist countries, where access to calories is no longer pursuit, hardship, or privilege, but an almost automatic condition of daily life, Fourth Wave Feminism has arguably contributed to more long-term health problems for women than many of its advocates ever intended. Look at the gendered opposite. EVERY MAN ever pictured…

100% If you want to fight corruption, there are two areas to target. One is obvious, the other is less so: Social Scientist and Modern Sociology has set gender relations back easily 40 years. Survivor Scholars jockey for grant $ and perpetuate one sided narratives of Harm.

I think you are close, but I would frame it slightly differently. Capitalism did not create feminism, but it learned very quickly how to house it, fund it, brand it, and profit from it. Patriarchy is the visible management layer: bosses, institutions, law, hierarchy, religion, public authority. But underneath that is something more difficult to name: a matriarchal value system that decides whose vulnerability receives protection, whose suffering becomes public language, and whose expendability i…

Waking up to what? The idea that we live in a matriarchy? Which houses capitalism? And is managed by patriarchy? The saturation the OP mentions centers on the domination of feminist ideology in social science and sociological spaces, where men are reminded constantly of our original sins. All the while, we appear to be happy as larks and lemmings as we blindly walk over our mortality cliffs in favor of the expendability demands that make the whole system work. https://medium.com/@ipsteak/the-mal…

100% - I love how it still is used. So much so, I offered my own definition earlier this year in·cel /ˈinˌsel/ noun (informal, modern, polemical) Definition: A shame-coded classification imposed by women onto young men at the onset of male puberty, in which sexual self-awareness is treated as suspect until legitimized through initial heterosexual validation. Both false: Misogyny is a deep belief that “men have it worse than women.” Misandry is a deep belief that “women have it worse than men.” The use of “women” and “men” above is meant to express a “normal man” and a “normal woman,” not any indication toward “elite,” “status,” excessive “desirability,” etc. Let’s put a pin in the two definitions above, as they will be useful context later.
