How to deal with men running off after finding out I make more money than them?Commenting to follow... This sounds oh too familiar. I'm in a similar situation myself, and as I've explored it more in depth I certainly agree that sex, or lack thereof, has an impact. I love to cook and invite friends and dates to my home, so find a way to avoid the expectation that it will be intimate. Lunch perhaps, or invite them over for a drink when you have an event to go to that same evening. I've also learned that demure about your income can actually cross the line to appearing deceit… | /r/RedPillWomen | 03/12/15 07:59 PM
Some issues with starting and maintaining a relationship as a business owner/higher income earner.Where? From all over - when I meet someone I like, I think about why. When I meet someone I dislike, I think about why. Over the years I've compiled subconscious and conscious standards both. As far as game... I'm still somewhat stumped as to the draw of actions described by a term meaning to play or to pretend. Sociosexual qualities are one thing, the connotation of "game" is entirely another. So fake and contrived sounding, really. Appearing slightly disinterested? What's attractive about that… | /r/RedPillWomen | 30/11/15 06:59 AM
Some issues with starting and maintaining a relationship as a business owner/higher income earner.Hmm. I wouldn't say I don't "care for an alpha partner. I'm not even sure what that means yet in the context and culture of this community. Still learning. As for breaking up vs being broken up with. I've initiated the breakups before, and more than on that single occasion you referenced. Sometimes it's just obvious things aren't clicking, and that's okay. The point of this post is to have that "things aren't clicking" judgement call based on something other than material possession and the stig… | /r/RedPillWomen | 25/11/15 07:08 AM
Some issues with starting and maintaining a relationship as a business owner/higher income earner.Yes, the VP is the most important point, buried amongst the more palatable information. Subconsciously or not, she compares dates to him. I would make a slight adjustment to this point - he's been with the company for less than seven months. I'd say rather than comparing other men to him, I compare him to the standard I hold for other men. Perhaps at some point he'll be the benchmark but we've not even made it to his annual review yet...lol It boils down to finding someone she respects (code for… | /r/RedPillWomen | 25/11/15 05:10 AM
Some issues with starting and maintaining a relationship as a business owner/higher income earner.I was visiting a friend in Coeur d'Alene and she asked if I wanted to give it a go. So I did. I've stayed with it because it's fun. | /r/RedPillWomen | 25/11/15 03:17 AM
Some issues with starting and maintaining a relationship as a business owner/higher income earner. There's not a typical triathlete shape - plenty of curves, not the stereotypical skinny runner physique I think you're thinking of. Endurance sports so produce more slender competitors than, say, crossfit only training but muscle mass is needed. It shows. | /r/RedPillWomen | 25/11/15 02:48 AM
Some issues with starting and maintaining a relationship as a business owner/higher income earner. There really isn't a "body type" for triathletes. Runners, yes, can be stereotypically slender if that's all they do, but most of the men and women I train with are involved with quite a bit more. Many (most) of us lift or do cross fit, and there are plenty of curves and "feminine" ratios. Sometimes the curves are just more muscle...lol | /r/RedPillWomen | 25/11/15 02:44 AM
Some issues with starting and maintaining a relationship as a business owner/higher income earner.(although OP, I will say, triathlete women generally don't tend to have particularly feminine bodies (I.e. all the cardio tends to eat away any muscle/curviness, etc.) but that's another thing altogether lol. Hey now, triathletes spend a lot more time building muscle and in turn tone than what you're assuming. Cardio, while critical, doesn't supply the body with the fuel it needs to rely on for something like Ironman. I think what would be most effective is figuring out how she can change the wa… | /r/RedPillWomen | 24/11/15 06:31 AM
Some issues with starting and maintaining a relationship as a business owner/higher income earner.Looks: Above average - as in a 6/10 or as in a 9/10? Ocean of difference there. Such a subjective scale... Let's say 8.5. I noticed you didn't mention your hair or your facial features. My hair is my one point of female vanity. It's a ten...lol Lots of curls, natural highlights, makes my otherwise grey eyes look green. It's almost always what people compliment me on first, men or women. They don't care if you like NASCAR or hiking - are you pretty? This is a biological indicator; don't shun men … | /r/RedPillWomen | 24/11/15 06:22 AM
Some issues with starting and maintaining a relationship as a business owner/higher income earner.Alrighty, brutal honesty here we come... On an average Tuesday, I'm above average physically. I'm tall and and a triathlete, so I'm in shape. When men approach me or ask my friends about me it's based on appearance 99% of the time. My three favorite things to talk about are cooking while actually doing it, trips and travel, and true crime/crime lit (long story). My dog is a frequent topic of conversation as well because he's with me everywhere, guys seem to love to talk about the Malinois. I own… | /r/RedPillWomen | 23/11/15 11:48 PM
Some issues with starting and maintaining a relationship as a business owner/higher income earner. It went really well. He's a very sweet, very bright guy. Based on how we were put together, it allowed for us to have a pretty frank exchange about dating and relationships. Nothing ubër serious, of course, but it felt like we were able to bypass any and all of the first date awkwardness that comes with not knowing someone very well. I'll post an update if it gets interesting. :) | /r/RedPillWomen | 23/11/15 04:32 PM
Some issues with starting and maintaining a relationship as a business owner/higher income earner.I'm afraid I'll never be a giggler, or even terribly demure, but the dominance aspect is interesting. I think in business and in personal relationships it's essential to know that one person is agreed upon to have the final say in matters. My VP and I will go rounds on certain decisions - he'll tell me when he thinks my thought process is faulty, he'll passionately debate, he'll offer suggestions and opinions and solutions of his own. He's supposed to, it's how we grow. But at the end of the day… | /r/RedPillWomen | 21/11/15 05:09 PM
Some issues with starting and maintaining a relationship as a business owner/higher income earner.Oh gosh, I actually had a man reference this study. I'm not sure what to think of it, really - it makes logical sense, yes, but there's also the part of me who thinks of the only reason a woman is in her marriage to begin with is she can't afford to leave, that's an empty "victory" for both the man and the marriage. | /r/RedPillWomen | 21/11/15 04:56 PM
Some issues with starting and maintaining a relationship as a business owner/higher income earner. You seem difficult. I was told the same thing when I was forthcoming about my career - that men would automatically assume I was always in "boss mode" and would worry I would be too career focused, controlling over money, etc. Hence, the years of "downplay, downplay, downplay!" advice. My suspicion is that I've (just by virtue of age) moved past the men easily shaken by such things, and it's now up to me to recapture that vulnerability and openness. | /r/RedPillWomen | 21/11/15 04:17 AM
Some issues with starting and maintaining a relationship as a business owner/higher income earner. Are you sweet? Do you smile? Do you wear feminine clothing? Do you know how to cook, bake, and engage in other typical feminine hobbies? I grin more than I smile I've been told, but "yes" on all other counts. Cooking is actually a passion of mine, I love to be in the kitchen. Contrary to what you and one or two other posters are saying, however, men tend to be VERY interested in my career. Sometimes to the point I feel like I'm in an interrogation, not a date. I wonder what the root of that is? | /r/RedPillWomen | 21/11/15 04:12 AM
Some issues with starting and maintaining a relationship as a business owner/higher income earner.Agreed. It always felt unnatural to downplay, although in all reality I find work talk a pretty lackluster way to get to know someone. At least the typical, "so what do you do? Oh, how long have you done that?" approach anyway. | /r/RedPillWomen | 21/11/15 04:06 AM
Some issues with starting and maintaining a relationship as a business owner/higher income earner.Great suggestions - a lot of what you mention is actually what I like about my work, so it would be a natural conversation flow. | /r/RedPillWomen | 21/11/15 04:02 AM
Some issues with starting and maintaining a relationship as a business owner/higher income earner.Ha! I'm just impressed at how many men googled me. I work in the information industry and that has never occurred to me, but by the time the googling was mentioned three times in the "recaps" I'm thinking I'm just out of touch with this. | /r/RedPillWomen | 21/11/15 04:01 AM
Some issues with starting and maintaining a relationship as a business owner/higher income earner.OP meant to downplay that aspect of herself, but it came across as underestimating the intelligence of their dates. I've worked myself into downplaying it, absolutely. Have a few men tell you they don't date women who make more than them (or say that to the friends who introduced you) and you start to get a bit self-conscious...lol There have been a few other factors that have led me to question my job's influence in dating, but it seems over the years the men have maybe matured and I need to qu… | /r/RedPillWomen | 21/11/15 03:59 AM
Some issues with starting and maintaining a relationship as a business owner/higher income earner. It worked well for this date to be upfront, but I got the impression he was the direct sort and would appreciate that approach. If a man has a more laid back personality I suspect it might work better to tone it down. | /r/RedPillWomen | 21/11/15 03:54 AM
Some issues with starting and maintaining a relationship as a business owner/higher income earner.I'm very ADD, in the sense that I jump topics and overlap topics frequently. I can come across as bored or dismissive if I'm not careful. When I watch for that behavior I can keep a handle on it, but it's a challenge. | /r/RedPillWomen | 20/11/15 11:56 PM
Lurkers, we would love to hear from you!I edited my comments to include the link. :) I'm looking forward to the "dates," although I'm more intrigued than encouraged, really - I took the advice of a few Redditors and chatted with a matchmaker. She's sending me out on some blind dates to get a read of my "style." It's fascinating, but odd! We'll see how it goes... | /r/RedPillWomen | 13/11/15 10:45 PM
Lurkers, we would love to hear from you! Thanks. My original post (the one that led me here) is in /r/relationships but I didn't want to just copy and paste. That and I have a few dates/meet ups this weekend, and armed with Reddit's best advice I may glean some additional observations from them that I might want to add. https://www.reddit.com/r/relationships/comments/3rj49k/i_f29_own_my_own_business_and_do_very_well_for/ | /r/RedPillWomen | 13/11/15 10:38 PM
Lurkers, we would love to hear from you! Thanks, glad to be here. I'm going to hold off on a full post for a few days because I have a few dates and get togethers this weekend and I'd like to include them in my update. Appreciate the welcome. :) | /r/RedPillWomen | 13/11/15 10:13 PM
Lurkers, we would love to hear from you!I'm not sure why the downvotes - he was helpful, non-offensive, what have you. I appreciated he had a suggestion beyond just a pat on the back, so here I am. | /r/RedPillWomen | 13/11/15 10:10 PM
Lurkers, we would love to hear from you!I'll make a full post soon (I'll have some info to add after this weekend), but the short story is that it seems to be the income discrepancy. While I don't share what I make, men put two and two together eventually. I've had men straight up tell me they're not comfortable dating a woman who makes more than they do, or I've gotten the hint when they start acting uncomfortable after coming to my home, seeing my name on the business, etc. My schedule is actually quite flexible at this stage in the… | /r/RedPillWomen | 13/11/15 10:08 PM
Lurkers, we would love to hear from you!Hello RPW: your group was suggested by a user on /r/relationships, he thought my ask for advice might find some legs here. I'll post after I read through the sidebar, a few other posts, etc. I've been reading for about 30 minutes now. I'm currently "looking," which is what brought me to Reddit in the first place. The long and short of my search is that I'm a business owner, I do well for myself, and that actually seems to cause conflict when I meet/date men. | /r/RedPillWomen | 13/11/15 03:16 AM
