Here's a link to the original article in Nature: https://www.nature.com/articles/ncomms15112 Btw, if anyone is interested in following these sorts of technological advancements, PM me. I am too and I'd really like to discuss them with others.

Could you link me that post if you're able to find it again?

What do you mean by "degenerate" in this case?

Considering that guy was red-leaning, I don't think he'd have a good answer for you.

Several things really: When someone is consistent in their arguments. When RP and BP are able to find common ground. When a BP person honestly admits that although they think TRP is wrong, they don't necessarily have a better option.

I think that as far as detractions of TRP go, this is one of the better ones. However, the term "solipsism" is too strong. As you illustrate in your post, RPers are just making the best possible observations from their position. In addition, there isn't much point in accounting for women who aren't attracted to you in your sexual strategy. If no woman loves you, AWALT (or NWILT) is fundamentally true.

I agree with a lot (maybe most) of what you have to say. However - to use your metaphor - I think that the study of fine arts majors would be more informative about college students as a whole than not. It would be a bigger mistake to assume that fine arts students had nothing in common with other college students, or that most college students are drastically different from fine arts students, than to assume that the ages, living conditions, incomes, interests, activities &c of fine arts studen…

Don't get a big head. All you've done is knock down incel as a term, not incel as a concept. You've argued semantics and won. Your definition is valid. "Physically unable to have sex by any means" is a valid interpretation of "involuntarily celibate". However, virtually no one else uses the term that way, and for good reason. Your definition of the term is so permissive that you could feasibly count rape and bestiality as sex. "Incel" is typically used to refer to a man who is unable to find a w…

I'm not hamstering, you're being pedantic. If you take only the dictionary definitions of those words, literally nobody can be an incel unless they're paralyzed or in solitary confinement. You might as well argue that women's studies degrees don't make you "unemployable" because you can easily find employment at McDonalds. If you take issue with the term "involuntarily celibate", you're free to suggest an alternate term that meets your standards. For my part, I'm going to keep using it.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/06/16 03:37 PM

You're defining "involuntary celibate" so strictly that it applies to literally no one. Regardless of how you spin it, there is still a significant amount of men who find it impossible to be sexually desired. If you can't see a difference between sex with a prostitute and mutually consensual sex, I don't know what to say to you.

That's a far cry from only wanting to date the top 3 men in a town. While I can't speak for the guy who posted that, I'm pretty sure he was embellishing. I don't take the same position he does, but it's inarguable that womens' standards are majorly skewed relative to mens'. Here's another article that focuses on womens' dating woes: https://www.vice.com/read/youre-single-because-there-arent-enough-men-253 Note that it doesn't mention anything about it being difficult for these women to find a pa…

I'm saying that involuntary celibacy has got to have some realistic bounds to it. There are some kinds of sex that may be possible but are in no way desirable or acceptable. Sex a prostitute is illegal, has a high risk of STDs, and most importantly involves no sexual desire on the part of the prostitute. It's not mutually consensual sex; it's a business transaction. You can't include going to a prostitute as a reasonable option without watering down the definition of incel to the point of meanin…

What comes off as privileged about you is that you've been through all those experiences, all that pain, and yet you assume life must be so easy for everyone else.

The others have probably summed it up better than I can, but this struck a nerve for me and I feel obliged to chip in. Hopefully I can shed some light on the difference between RP and BP personalities. The stereotypical BP mindset criticizes analysis and exhorts "just be yourself" and "don't think about it too much". It condemns generalizations and sometimes asserts that nothing is really knowable about your social environment. While to you, this might sound promising - like it offers a world of…

I also see the view expressed frequently. It was huge on /r/ForeverAloneWomen before that sub was closed. EDIT: Here's an article that shows women expressing this view - http://foreignpolicy.com/2012/04/23/the-startling-plight-of-chinas-leftover-ladies/. They see men who don't meet certain exceptional qualifications as not worth dating at all.

What you're describing isn't the same thing as merely being competitive. You're right - there's no need to buy flashy things to be socially valued. But you fail to account that most other people are constantly improving and working on their image. If you "live for yourself", put in minimum effort, fall behind the curve, and generally have no impressive or stand-out qualities, you're going to have a very difficult time finding people who will accept you as a friend, much less respect you. Having …

People appreciate talents they can understand. You can be the most brilliant programmer in the world, but to the untrained eye it looks like you're just typing on a computer all day. Meanwhile a half-decent basketball player can sink a basket and impress an entire crowd.

I would argue that there are significant differences between believers in cryptids and believers in TRP. Generally the former have no personal experience with cryptids (except maybe vague occurrences like hearing sounds outside their tent, or seeing lights in the sky at night) - their belief is founded on stories they've heard or TV shows they've watched. Most reds, on the other hand, believe in TRP because it jives with their personal experiences. I wouldn't expect the average person to have kn…

I got you: Probably the most cited study having to do with sexual selectivity in humans is Clark & Hatfields' Gender Differences in Receptivity to Sexual Offers. From the abstract: According to cultural stereotypes, men are more eager for sex than are women; women are more likely to set limits on such activity. In this paper, we review the work of theorists who have argued in favor of this proposition and review the interview and correlational data which support this contention. Finally, we repo…

I'd argue that /r/relationships, /r/sex, and /r/dating don't hold coherent worldviews either. They're broad, open subs without clearly defined common beliefs (except maybe an aversion to TRP). Even if individuals on those subs have their own worldviews, if they're not like this... "People that are X will do Y, if you do Z people will do A" ...then they're not actionable. Men who go on TRP aren't looking for rules that apply to every human being on Earth, they're looking for heuristics that work …

You're ignoring this: To me, womens' increased selectiveness is self-evident. It's such a widespread theme in our culture that I have a hard time believing you don't see it like I do. I could give many examples of this, but I think the most illustrative is the numerical difference between men and women who have difficulty securing sexual/romantic relationships. There are hundreds of communities for men who want to get better at getting girls, of which /r/TheRedPill is one. However, I've yet to s…

It's not just advice though. They fail to provide a coherent worldview that can stand up to TRP.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/06/16 10:08 PM

So tell me, what situation do you need advice in, and I'll show you a mainstream (so BP), easy to find piece of advice on the internet for it. He's not saying there's a dearth of advice, he's saying that the "advice" that exists is garbage. And to be honest, are women that selective? I know a lot of average guys that have no problems getting decent looking gf's. This is anecdotal and deals with your personal experience rather than societal trends. Furthermore, we have no idea what your definitio…

In that case, I agree with you, but I still don't see how that relates to your original post.

Your post is titled "Why does /r/thebluepill need to offer an alternative?" and that's what I answered. /r/thebluepill and "the blue pill" are very different things. I believe that the former is a joke with no real insight to offer, and I stand by that. Too often I defend the not RP view (so the BP view) and people just respond with "well the BP sub is shit therefore you are". Those people are probably wrong, but that has nothing to do with your original post. It's important to remember that /r/…

/r/thebluepill doesn't need to explain anything. however, it shouldn't be seen as valid if all it can do is lampoon /r/TheRedPill without offering coherent criticisms or alternative viewpoints. You said it yourself - /r/thebluepill is a joke sub. It shouldn't be taken seriously and it shouldn't be seen as anything more.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/06/16 08:41 PM

But where? Can you link me to a comment or post that says this?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/06/16 08:16 PM

I've never seen a RPiller make those points, much less claim that TBP is a unified, coherent ideology. As far as I can tell, "The Blue Pill" refers to everything that's not The Red Pill. There are many different forms and degrees of TBP. In short, you're arguing against a strawman. Going against gender roles, or claiming that masculinity and femininity aren't important to attraction, are common themes in many feminist groups. Though these practices are unquestionably bluepilled (and very damagin…

You're right. The other responses constitute good advice, but not facts or beliefs. Thanks for the article, by the way. It's very well written.

No worries! I looked it up and you're right, the UK and US have more women than men when all age groups are accounted for. The younger demographics still have a dismal go of it, though. Going off the Factbook data, as many as one in twenty men in the U.S. aged 15-24 are "extras" with no female counterpart. Feel free to check my math on that one, I really hope I'm wrong. Unfortunately I think it neatly explains the distresses of both men and women in the dating market today. In any case, there's …

You've got a point there. The Chinese trend of sex-selective abortion has always sounded like pure insanity to me. If it's grandchildren parents care about, why would you have a son who risks becoming a "bare branch" when you can have a daughter from whom grandchildren are virtually guaranteed? Not to mention all the suffering it causes, for the girls who were aborted and the men who have to live alone in a broken system.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/16 01:52 AM
2

Not true. The most recent data from the CIA World Factbook puts the figures at 3,653,920,784 men and 3,602,569,227 women globally. That's a difference of over 5 million. If you only account for younger ages (when sex ratios would matter most), that difference is significantly more pronounced.

Some women see TRP as a threat because it teaches "lesser men" how to be more assertive and successful. This feels disingenuous to them because they want a natural alpha. They're afraid of being seduced by a man only to find out he was a beta all along. Feminists often view TRP as a threat because they see any expression of male sexuality as tantamount to rape. Fathers can hate TRP because they don't want their daughters to be seduced. They would much rather they marry a stable beta provider. (t…

I never said it was the end goal. You're projecting. Tbh we shouldn't even be arguing. I recommended looking to see what works and then doing that, rather than following the advice of bystanders. The bluepilled say that being nice is what's important, but observation and experience show that assertiveness wins the day. Of course, you can also follow your heart, but sometimes your heart is just wrong. That's a fucking great video though.

It's important to remember that there are simply more men than women, particularly at younger ages. IIRC the ratio at birth is 1.05 male/female.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/05/16 06:53 PM
5

Not sure what you mean by that. Would you rather follow the example of failures?
/r/askTRP27/05/16 06:48 PM

I can see it. TRP is a pragmatic philosophy and the use of generalizations and heuristics are necessary.
/r/askTRP27/05/16 06:29 PM

I'd also add "do what you see successful men doing."
/r/askTRP27/05/16 06:24 PM

the incels whining that they aren't liked the way they are, are simply the male versions of Radfems/Fat Activists doing the same. Except those two groups have radically different agendas. FAs want social acceptance and decreased criticism; incels want access to sex and relationships. FAs don't go on Tumblr and complain about men not fucking them because they know they'd be inundated with messages from desperate men within minutes.
