Hi, New HereHey! I'm not sure if you are open to suggestions, but have you ever tried building stuff for your kids? I've seen countless videos of dads who have built things like play kitchens, tool benches, forts, and even cool bed frames and other stuff for their little ones. My dad even helped me build my piano bench that I have with my keyboard on top. It's exhausting to be a parent and I know working from home can end up being monotonous at times, but maybe taking on a side project could be for you? | /r/MenSupportMen | 29/07/22 01:09 AM
EmpathyI was in no way meaning it as an excuse, but I see where you're coming from. I wouldn't expect empathy from someone who isn't trans who has not gone through my journey of transitioning, but I would welcome their sympathy. I would not welcome it from a bigot. | /r/MenSupportMen | 26/03/22 02:41 AM
EmpathyI didn't say not to look for support, I said it would be difficult. Empathy is not the same as sympathy, and I'm fully aware of the difference. | /r/MenSupportMen | 26/03/22 01:07 AM
EmpathyWhat was unhelpful? Can you elaborate? | /r/MenSupportMen | 26/03/22 01:05 AM
EmpathyI may have misunderstood the post then | /r/MenSupportMen | 26/03/22 01:03 AM
| -4 | EmpathyYou're not going to find empathy if someone hasn't experienced the exact thing that you have. You're more likely to find people with a shared experience that can vouch for you and have that conversation, but why go looking for something that isn't there? Especially if you're dealing with people who say KAM. They're saying that because they have a different experience than you. | /r/MenSupportMen | 25/03/22 06:38 PM |
No matter what I do, I'm the bad guy. That sounds so stress-inducing. I'm sorry you have to go through that. It's her job as a parent to give you a place to stay until you're ready to move out, or at the very least, to let you get to a place where you're capable of going out yourself | /r/MenSupportMen | 21/03/22 10:17 PM
No matter what I do, I'm the bad guy.It sounds like she's guilttripping you for being no contact. You're not responsible for his poor health. You're not responsible for how he treated you in the past. If your mom actually wanted you over, she wouldn't guilt trip you and would instead let you know, like a grown adult, thar your father is sick and she would like you to visit. | /r/MenSupportMen | 21/03/22 10:02 PM
How to help with lonelinessI really like the idea of a conversation channel or thread! I think a lot of us would benefit from being able to chat on the fly with someone | /r/MenSupportMen | 15/01/22 11:14 PM
Low Confidence Impacting My RelationshipThank you so much for this reply. I do struggle a lot with being very literal. It helps a lot to know that it's okay for me to settle and understand that he'll tell me if something's wrong. | /r/MenSupportMen | 23/10/21 02:13 PM
Anyone else abused by their dads at a young age still struggling into adulthood? The way my birth father acted makes me so wary of any "father figure" I see. Whenever a man with authority raises his voice, I just freeze. It makes it so hard to work in a public environment because we get guys at our bar in the resturaunt who yell a lot, and make sudden moves. I've been brought to tears by customers who just happen to be guys, and I've had to go stand in the kitchen while my boyfriend/coworkers try to ease my anxiety. | /r/MenSupportMen | 19/10/21 09:48 PM
I’m a lonely 19 year oldI think there are tons of games that involve dancing, you could try getting one of those and post it. You can even invite people to play with you. These all seem like really cool aspirations! The arts and entrlertainment have come such a long way with technology, I think you're going in na really good direction. | /r/MenSupportMen | 26/08/21 01:19 PM
Weekend check-inThank you so much. Honestly, between me going to therapy and trying to go out more, I'm not really sure what to do. Someone said a while ago that they used to play lots of video games as a teen so I was gonna plan on going to the mall to get a nintendo switch, so hopefully I can try that out. | /r/MenSupportMen | 21/08/21 03:35 PM
Weekend check-inI had an overprotective mother and a ton of mental health issues that prevented me from going out and doing normal teen stuff or even making friends. Because of that, I feel like I never got to have the same experiences as other teenagers and I still feel 11 because I am in the exact same place I have been since then-- no friends to hang out with, nothing really going on in my life besides college/work, and still feeling anxious around leaving the house. I know it's small potatoes but it's reall… | /r/MenSupportMen | 21/08/21 02:09 PM
Weekend check-inAm a bit angry after work today. Anger is not work-related, mostly slef-centered. Mainly, I never got to have a normal teenager-hood and even though I'm 20, I feel like I'm perpetually 11 years old with a driver's license, college classes, and a part-time job. | /r/MenSupportMen | 21/08/21 03:57 AM
