I do that. It's not to argue with ya'll (I don't), I just like to make sure my head isn't only filled with info from just people who agree with me on everything. I'm also subscribed to /r/feminism and a whole host of folks I don't see eye to eye with. It's nice to be able to hear other people's opinions and not be angered by the very notion of them existing.

I don't think that that is entirely true. I've been hearing that for a while, I guess as sort of a backlash to the idea that they are all prudes. Sure, some bang well, and often, but I don't think it's most. I think it's the same percentages as non-church girls. But it's a bigger deal because they broke the whole jesus thing, so it makes them seem crazier and sluttier.

For a good example, see "the coochie snorcher that could" from the vagina monologues. Short version of the story; girl is sexually abused growing up, then sexually abused again at 13 by an old lady, and for some reason, this time it's not only okay, but helps her to recover and discover her sexuality. Their remedy to any outrage? Make the girl 16.

Yeah, standards are one thing. But making me feel inadiquit because I don't wear certain things, listen to certain things, have the same stamina for labor or watch certain sports, is another thing. In fact, all those things are why I'm glad that I'm not in highschool. They day I stopped caring when "men" thought of me, was the best day of my life, and the first day of me being a better human.

Maybe, but I don't want to get into that, I certainly don't want men's rights to be a place of "We are smarter and better than everyone and they should know we are doing what's best for them." Being ignorant of something doesn't make you ignorant of everything.

This is the same things as posting your response to something on facebook, except with a slight setting change. There are dumb people out there who are just being dumb, they aren't infringing on us or really even hurting the cause, just being dumb. This wasn't even either one of those times though, this is just a joke. I can see how you would miss that though, so no hard feelings. If only there was some way for you to know that that sub was going to have jokes in it... Like, if the title implied…

The unfortunate truth is that it's not JUST that she's a woman, but an attractive one. It doesn't make it any less sexist, but it is important to note that had she been an "ugly" woman, it probably wouldn't have gone over well.

That was the thing that really struck me in that. "Trigger Warning" is sort of a nice idea, warning people of possible trauma triggers, and this is being used for what? A stolen joke about a time machine.... And what's even more annoying about that, is that feminism has sort of taken the whole "trigger warning" thing to be a very feminist idea, like they are the only ones who care about people with PTSD... and this person is using it so lightly....

I think what happens, is that even though there is a lot of this on Reddit being posted, but it doesn't happen much in most of our actual lives. It's shocking to see people you know say stuff like that. I don't really wanna keep seeing these, but yeah, that is probably why they keep getting posted.

I don't mean to circlejerk here, and I really don't think that book is the worse thing, but I wanna say, just how hard it really is to get what we are about, it's a really bitter pill to swallow and to a lot of people the idea is right up there with "The Holocaust was exaggerated". But it's a very necessary movement and I'm glad it exists.

Why would that delight me? I was very sad to hear that. She was a hero of mine. When I was a kid I organized this event at my local library that was all about space exploration and such, I sent her an invitation and she came. I used to want to be an astronaut, I was serious about it. I would still be on the track if it wasn't for my vision making me ineligible to be a pilot.

Dude. I don't think that 'women in the kitchen' jokes are that bad, and like, I know you weren't being serious when you said that, but please; Don't say shit like that here. I assume that this is something that happened to you. and I'm going to say that that is very silly, and also that if for some reason that was to be taught as a warning, that it shouldn't be so specific to gender or sexuality.
