I would definitely recommend you read this book. OP is correct, it's one of the most significant books of the last century. Atlas Shrugged would be far more valuable to read in schools if it had an abridged version, or excerpts in context. Rand really didn't understand quality over quantity, but damn were there some good moments in that book. Honestly, Anthem would have been a far better pick for the younger crowd.

This is just tyrannical. The best rulers are the ones who can make their people happy to follow the rules. Enforcement can be led with with the carrot (encouragement, support, forgiveness) as much as the rod (groundings, shaming, withdrawing emotional connections).
