Exactly right. Wasting your 20s is unfortunate, but not an excuse to stop trying to improve. When you're 55, you'll wish you had started at 35.

Exactly, it only works if you bothered to do the following in your 20s: Not spend all your free money and time on weed/alcohol Establish enough financial independence to not have to worry about being paid for 3-6 months if necessary Develop a personality and one or two serious hobbies. Stay in shape

Finance as a sector of the economy is declining and in structural decay by the way. I worked for a bulge bracket bank until last year when I left to join startup. I can't stress how right you are. If you love finance, by all means pursue a career in investment banking. There's still a lot of fulfillment to be had there if you truly love what you do. But definitely don't do it for a paycheck. Another Indian guy here. I've had a similar experience. I did my undergrad at a Northeastern tech school with a high Indian/Asian population. I was aware of all this, but just wrote it off as "the way things are". Indian girls would have no problem dating outside their race, but would talk shit about Indian guys to their white girl friends all the time. As a result, Indian guys generally didn't date too often.
