25	In New Zealand it is illegal for single men to adopt a girl. as if only men are paedophiles ! we always hear in the media about female teachers who abuse young boys. This is unreal. What if me, a man, had a sister, married with a daughter. My sister and husband die in a car crash. Daughter survives. I can't adopt her. 5	[Serious] Could someone please explain why the boys were remanded and the girls released pending summons? I'm trying to understand the logic? As someone who works close to this field, and also in Australia, there are lots of possible factors, but the biggest factor is likely the history of the teenagers involved. If the boys have more criminal history, or the girls have more factors like a difficult childhood, that could explain the difference. 1	I'd love to not have to wear a seatbelt while driving either. I don't directly disagree with you. But as a guy, if I was walking in a dark alley at 3am and was stabbed 20 times, I wouldn't be upset if the first thing people said was "Why was he there?" I think that would be a fine question to ask. I don't think saying "Maybe she should have gotten a little less drunk so she was less vulnerable" is the same as saying "she deserved it". It was like when that Miss USA girl suggested women take self defense classes to stop being raped, or that judge recently said women should stop getting so drunk if they want to stop being raped. This is from a purely physiological point of view. After conception, the baby is in the woman's body, where its her choice.
