Do you not watch football or sports with friends? I'm all for not watching the weather and news but kicking back and watching TV or movies can be very social if hanging with people

She was asking for it and going along with it without saying no.

Read the article. It's not just about the false allegations, she also undermines her own argument in the article by saying how she expected him to read her "nonverbal cues"

7-8 is the sweetspot where they aren't batshit crazy but still are very attractive.

Women can be clingy and obnoxious. Why wouldn't you want your own space to escape that from time to time?

I actually disagree about the "man cave". It serves not only to keep the house uncluttered, but also as a way to get away from the women.

Deadlifts have done wonders for my posture.

Best way is to mic your bedroom so you can hear her voice consenting

They tend to either be dumb as a brick or have other very bad qualities, in my experience.

You seem to be doing to same thing you criticize me for. I will look into the people you cited and do some reading, and hopefully come to a more educated position. I don't believe the way I do about this subject with no basis; I have already done much reading as I enjoy learning about the effects of exercise on the body.

Most of the sources I have read support my claims.

They are debatable. At this point you have no evidence to support your argument, and just keep claiming the same thing. I want to be educated. Show me scientific research that shows lifting as more valuable than cardio for weight loss when practiced alone.

It does neither. Your muscular strength, if starting from a point of high ability, would decline if you stopped lifting and started doing cardio daily. I believe the question posed by the OP was whether it is a good idea to lift with "very little muscle", likely little fitness base, and a self-description of "fat". The reality is that starting a weight plan would be very unlikely to help the OP initially to get rid of his moobs and achieve his weight loss goals. It's possible to look good skinny…

It's more like diet>cardio>lifting if you want according to that actual study done by the APS.

American Physiological Society's findings. Refer to the figures denoting differences in subjects after either aerobic exercise or a combination of aerobic exercise and resistance training. I'm not arguing that strength training cannot be beneficial when used in addition to cardiovascular exercise. I am saying that it is absolutely not as beneficial for weight loss when practiced alone. It seems you just referenced an article that went against your own position?

I have read deeply into the matter. You aren't helping your case by calling me an idiot.

First of all, I do have knowledge of the subject, having worked with a professional nutritionist and personal trainer to improve myself as well as taking college classes on sports nutrition. I don't want to get into a large argument as I have personally never been close to being considered "overweight" so must admit that I have never had to go through the process of losing weight. Regardless, I recognize the (minimal) benefits of EPOC, and as such would recommend that somebody trying to lose wei…

Diet > cardio > lifting. Lifting does not burn calories on nearly the level cardio does. To lose weight, you need a calorie deficit, which is much easier for an overweight person to obtain while working aerobically daily. Gains mean nothing if they are covered in fat.

Lifting is betrer than cardio for weight loss? That is just false. I know this subreddit has a thing against running cause it "slows gains" but the reality is that an overweight person needs to focus on lossing weight before trying to build major muscle.

What about gains in strength directly related to going to the gym and increasing weight/reps?

Yeah, this post is questionable at best. If the boyfriend wants a more eloquent lifestyle with his girlfriend he should expect to pay more than 50/50 so that she doesn't have to live outside her means, and so she can be finiancially responsible as well. Paying in proportions of each's income, for example, would be a good way to equalize costs. She doesn't sound like she wants his money, she sounds like she wants to remain finiancially secure with her own while maintaining the long term relations…

ITT everybody is complaining about the necessity of lifting weights while failing to realize that for many people, bodyweight excercises are a convenient/easy/accessable way to get the asthetic or fitness level they want.
