Hey, I'm sorry for what you're going through, i know its soul crushing. If you want to talk you can reach me.

It sounds like you need some therapy honestly. 2 weeks and you're already that desperate? It sucks I get it, but this is the time to work on yourself. Find a hobby, hit the gym, read some books, go for a walk. Learn to be happy with yourself and things will get a lot better

I mean, 99% of drivers are men. They're shooting themselves in foot again and will blame the patriarchy for it

When they ask you to change, usually means "meet my ever changing expectations". The more you give, the more you lose. Focus on you and being a good dad and time will reward you

Ooof, I'd run away from this asap brother. She asking YOU to change sounds like she takes no responsibility for any of her wrongdoings in the relationship and it's all your fault you can't be perfect according to her expectations

12 years together, 5 married and with a small kid. I brought her from the ghettos of Brazil to live in Canada where I worked my ass off to provide a comfortable life for her but nothing was ever good enough. A few weeks before we separated I was suicidal and barely hanging on just sitting in the living room watching cartoons with my kid when out of nowhere she starts an argument about my dirty socks being on the floor and then tells me that I'm nothing but an useless, worthless drug addict drunk…

Figure out my ex-wife was a covert narcissist couple of weeks before she discarded me so I didn't beg and went completely grey rock (we have a kid so I can't go no contact). Best decision I ever made! I'm in control of my life now.

It wasn't necessary bad comparing to some other stories shared in this sub, but the last year of our relationship she was so verbally and emotionally abusive that I just don't want to have anything do to with her. She craves attention from me, even if is bad attention (getting angry or having to explain myself) and I'm not playing that game anymore.

I share a child as well. Blocked her from all social media and I only talk to her via text when it involves our kid. Don't engage with her besides that and move on. After a year of doing this, she finally started to collapse and is now seeing how hard it is to be a provider.
/r/Divorce_Men06/06/23 01:37 PM

Just the fact that you have no kids is a blessing dude. I know it still sucks, but you can always make/recover your money. I'm still broke and living with my parents a year after separation but life is so much better without a crazy bitch sucking the life out of you.

I was in the same situation as you when my ex wife decided to leave. Depressed, confused and simply looking for answers as per why she was doing it. Like others mentioned here, you won't get closure/answers from her, you have to do the work and find that closure yourself. I've done a lot of research about my ex and how she behaved during our relationship and I'm almost sure she's a covert narcissist. Going no contact is the best thing you can do to those kind of people, so good job on that. Focu…

I hated the double standards. She would bitch about a fork being out of place in the kitchen but then borrow my tools and never put it back in place.

She either used the money she gets from the government for our kid or borrowed from her bf

Mine is very similar too. Been telling her for years to seek help but all her issues were my fault according to her. We separated about a year ago, ran off to a new dude and recently told me that I was right about her having to get a therapist and that she's having a burnout now that she has to find a job and place to live.

Mediation in my case was a blessing. Even though the mediator is a woman, she did an excellent job at keeping neutrality and calling out bs behavior from my ex. For example the ex was bitching about how I should help her pay for extra curricular activities for my kid and the mediator explained that those activities are covered under the child support I'm paying. Ex tried to argue by saying that the amount I was paying couldn't cover even half of the amount, to which the mediator told her that sh…

I was lucky I guess. I started to notice her behavior was not normal a few years back. Did a lot of research about personality disorders and mental illness and found out she has ALL the signs for covert narcisssim. Going no contact is the number 1 recommendation for these kind of people. Plus I also found an amazing therapist for myself.

Idk. We rarely talk and she's blocked from all my social media. I get bits and pieces from my family of her whereabouts

Our mediator is a divorce attorney. I haven't consulted another one since I'm getting a great deal out of the divorce in comparison with stories I hear in this sub. All I need is the bitch's signature and I'm good to go

It was weird because she changed her mind as soon as she got back from vacationing with him to Brazil. Maybe the dude realized that he can get a much better chick from there lol
/r/Divorce_Men31/05/23 04:35 PM
10

Yeah. I think I sped up her realization since I went full no contact with her for pretty much a year. Only talking to her via text and in regards to my kid. She was so used to walk all over me and using me a her emotional tampon.

I'll give her some time since she agreed that she needs to see a therapist (something I've been telling her for years and she always ignored) and since I don't plan to ever get married anyways. But if this goes on I'll definitely take some alternative action.

There's no alimony thankfully. Only cs
/r/Divorce_Men31/05/23 04:01 PM

There's no time limit on the contract and I've been making the cs ever since we started mediation. The amount I'm paying is based on divorce laws from here and it's been pretty fair to be honest. I'm paying 250$ a month only and if/when her income increases it will be reduced even more.

Yep that's what I'm pushing her to do. Messaged her a few days ago asking when she'll reschedule the appointment but I can't force her.

The apartment we had was rented and she didn't renew the contract since she was determined to move in to the new bf's house. I'm not paying for anything other than child support which is about 15% of my salary.

Becoming a better version of yourself and living an authentic happy life is the best revenge we can get. My ex smeared my name to everyone and I also felt I needed to defend myself but realized that I don't give a fuck about what she or anyone else thinks of me. We did our time and now we're free!

I'm about to finalize my divorce next week. It's a fucked up journey but all the pain and suffering will transform you into a better and stronger self. I've vented on this sub many times and someone was always there to listen to me. Hang in there and focus on yourself and your healing ahead.

Rice is good for you and super easy go make. Canned beans are also easy and tasty if you season it well. Those 2 things are my main source and then I simply add protein (beef, chiken) salads and stuff like that. I also learned to make pizzas. Super easy once you get the hang of it.

I've been down the road of "pleasing everyone" and it brought me nothing but suffering. Married the first girlfriend I ever had, took her from a third world country, gave her a son (both things she said was her dream). I'm 29, broke AF and separating. Don't get married ever.

I was the only bread winner for the first 4 years of my marriage. She had full access to my account and managed all the bills and stuff (even church tithing). As soon as she got a job, she opened her own account and made sure that I don't have access to it. While I was still paying everything, she went on vacation twice while I had to stay behind working. The only time I took time off from work was when I lost my job. During 2 months I had no income and I asked her if she could pay the rent that…

My wife likes to put me in scenarios where I'm always wrong. Yesterday I got home a bit earlier and decided to make dinner for us and my kid. She's very picky about food, so I prepared it with Gordon Ramsey precision. She arrived while I was eating and the first thing the did was yell at me because I used some of the meat that was in the fridge (she was planning on using it but didn't tell me. Now, if I didn't prepare dinner, she would yell saying that I don't care about her or my son...

Are we married with the same women? Jesus!... I think all the things you described shows that she has some kind of personality disorder (narcissistic?!) Check out dr. Ramani on YouTube, it has given me a lot of understanding and reasons why I should definitely leave!

One thing I noticed especially on radio ads is that man are often portrayed as dummies and losers. One ad in my local radio there's a guy saying that he feels like "Albert Einstone" (he's so dumb he doesn't even know who Einstein is) and another one where the narrator has to say that he lives with his mom.

A great majority of our social structures and laws were implemented/created mainly by men at the cost of our disposability. I'd also try to counter argument that social structure and law has women controlling men at a greater rate instead. I did a quick google search and it seems that domestic abuse rates are at a higher level in female2female relationships than men2men and there's also the fact that men rarely report any abuse out of fear of humiliation or retaliation. You can look up some case…

My biggest problem was money. Unfortunately there's no free or affordable therapists in Canada. I finally managed to get help by doing zoom sessions with a therapist in my home country (Brazil). Instead of paying 120$ per session, I was paying 100$ per month!

Nowadays I see my relationship with my wife as those bicycles for 2 people. At the beginning we were both pedaling, but towards the end I was the only one pedaling like a maniac while she sat comfortably in the back just criticizing my pedaling and route choices.

Hey, we're on the same boat my friend. We're separating and have a 3 y.o. The only thing that was keeping me in the relationship was my son. Even my therapist agreed. Statistics about kids being raised by divorced parents will certainly discourage you even more to ask for a divorce. Will you be able to be the best dad for your kid while being miserable, depressed, unhappy and unsatisfied? That's how I currently feel whenever I'm near my wife, and I'm constantly projecting this negativity towards…

I'm currently on the same situation with my wife but we only have 1 kid. We're both stressed and tired to tolerating each other and we both agreed that divorce is the only solution. For now we're not talking about lawyers or anything. The separation laws in my province is pretty liberal and we can request the official divorce once we are living apart for more than 1 year.

I was the only provider for my wife and kid for many years. Due to the pandemic I lost my job and that forced my wife to find a job. Now I clean and she works. I love it and agree with everything you said. Is much easier not having the constant pressure of a real job. But this is not gonna last forever, Im pretty sure after a couple of days she'll find and excuse to quit and force me to get any low income job i can find in order to make ends meet.
