My 6th and 7th grade math teacher graded me so harshly that sometimes I would lose more points on a question than it was worth, but she would never do anything like that to my female study partner, who had the same answers to me on the math homework and most of our team quizzes because we worked together on them. I got such bad grades in that class that I was almost moved out of my schools accelerated math class, but in 8th grade when I switched to a new teacher my grade shot all the way to an A

She probably actually believes she's doing the right thing, it's easier to take control of someone who believes something than to have somebody you already control just pretend
