I agree. But if I were to list of the 20-top scientists, and only 3 were women (as is the case here) I wouldn't then adjust my list to have 10 men and 10 women. The number of X-chromosomes they've got shouldn't effect the importance of their discovery.

I wholly accept that women have been discriminated against, and as a result have contributed less to science. Nobody is saying women are less capable of science then men, that women aren't in growing numbers in science, or that women cannot or have not contributed greatly to science. But, there have been, historically, many times more contributions by male scientists than female scientists. It is just the way it is. Anybody who thinks she is solely responsible for discovering DNA had their head up their ass. She wouldn't have even been eligible for the Nobel-Prize anyway, as she had already died. However, it was clear that Watson (a well-known racist, sexist, and advocate for eugenics) and Wilkins covered up that fact that some of their work came from her, and she was not given fair credit for her work. The people who commented were actually incredibly reasonable and kind. There is a reason I didn't say "Feminism Forces" but instead "Feminist Forces" Feminists take a ton of shit on this subreddit, but it's important to remember that people like /u/scientist2144 do not define feminism. They are simply extremists. People like /u/scientist2144 are the ones who make a bad name for feminism, similar to how the people making sexist jokes ITT are making a bad name for Men's Rights.

In breast cancer's defense, it has a much more profound effect on people than prostate cancer. It's mortality rate is higher, it affect much people at a much younger age, and it is much harder to treat. Regardless, as has been stated, these awareness campaigns are not changing anything. If you really want to help fund cancer research donate to a cancer hospital, where the actual goal is to cure cancer.
