Women can give babies up for adoption, or abort them, do you see a breach of ethics regarding both of those options? Adoption is only an option if the father also agrees. The word is up for interpretation, like all words. You're right, but the guy I replied to is trying to change that current interpretation used by most people, including in the legal system. Currently, having sex with someone who is incapacitated is considered rape. I cannot see a valid argument that this should be changed. "Sexual assault" covers a range of crimes including rape.

No. The whole point of the Lily Ledbetter act was to allow people to sue RETROACTIVELY when they found out that in the past, they were getting fucked over for no reason. Before the law was passed, they could only sue for ongoing wages in the future (as if they wouldn't get fired 99% of the time for doing that).

May I point out that "hysterically" is an adjective with a history of being used to denigrate women? I know that its application has broadened from this historical basis but in this context I think there is a clear intent of labeling women as more irrational than men. This kind of quiet sexism does nothing to promote equality of the sexes, it is bad for men and women both.

I've seen this claim made before, especially with regard to gender differences, and it essentially boils down to "if women did the same work as men for less money, they would be hired more in our free market, therefore there must not be a bias agaisnt women." This is basically making the claim that when it comes to financial decisions, people (i.e. hiring managers) always make perfectly rational decisions. I think we all know that people quite frequently make irrational decisions.
