Most rapes don't occur out in the open street. But rather through social manipulation. Go re-read that reddit "ask a rapist" thread. I'm all for taking smart preventative measures, don't get me wrong. But they need to be informed by how rapists actually behave. Its an arms race, and make sure your weapons are current.

I think the reason its so pervasive is that its part of our evolutionary history. I mean when war happens, the rich old men in charge don't mind sending the poor young men to their deaths. Hopefully in doing so you allow more speech to be acceptable. Some of the stories on here make me worried about what can be said in a workplace about this matter.
