Study done by a woman shows part of how women contribute to "toxic masculinity".Then we agree that women do judge and criticize when men do open up. Your overall message is that men should be vulnerable but only in the right way. That certainly isn't the message women are given. It isn't the narrative told to men about being open and "bare all". Being vulnerable is good only on some level but it has to be done properly and in the right setting. Firstly, it takes two sides. Yes, men need to show vulnerability but not crippling insecurity. Women have to also express that they… | /r/PurplePillDebate | 31/03/19 10:17 PM
Study done by a woman shows part of how women contribute to "toxic masculinity".We are talking about men who have had real experiences. They've experienced real shame from opening up. You can't negate that any more than men can negate women feeling sexually objectified. It's too bad that you don't believe that to be a fact -- or at the very least that women play a role in making men feel this way. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 31/03/19 09:29 PM
Study done by a woman shows part of how women contribute to "toxic masculinity".Well the article was a little misleading. Her assertions come from her main book "Daring Greatly".. She interviewed men and some discussed being reminded to open up and getting women to see the core of their vulnerability -- yet men -- when doing so were seen as too weak. That's her assertion. Is it a full fledged study other than qualitative interviews -- no? but it present a very real perspective for many many men. That men aren't allowed to really open up out of fear of very real consequenc… | /r/PurplePillDebate | 31/03/19 09:24 PM
Study done by a woman shows part of how women contribute to "toxic masculinity".no I wasn't trying to prove it's a study. I was proving she has some academic credentials. You seem to have a high standard for the assertion of the thread which is laudable but I hope you apply that level of scrutiny to all claims even those from with your own opinion. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 31/03/19 09:08 PM
Study done by a woman shows part of how women contribute to "toxic masculinity".The issue people have with the term isn't it manifestation. The issue is that men alone bear the responsibility for its origin. While you may be nuanced enough to know women contribute to the term (or equivalent) popular media doesn't.. I. E Gillette ad that emphasized that men need to hold other men accountable. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 31/03/19 04:40 PM

Are women really repulsed by male emotions or is this a myth?Brene Brown did research on the topic. Here are some of her thoughts. "What Brown also discovered in the course of her research is that, contrary to her early assumptions, men's shame is not primarily inflicted by other men. Instead, it is the women in their lives who tend to be repelled when men show the chinks in their armor." https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2017/12/pew-gender/547508/ There's a huge desirability bias in this thread | /r/PurplePillDebate | 31/03/19 06:01 AM
