Don’t you have to prove at some point so why lie and create a bad reputation and lose?

Agree she is acting immature or decided to don’t care and cheat if opportunity rises. Given that, have you had a talk and say firmly that she is disrespecting you by continuing with that guy and she needs stop now! Or else would be not to threaten with separation but suggest seeing a therapist that you are disturbed by this. At that time, follow all what has been said to prepare to separate, record stuff etc and after that you got the things on your side.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice. I’m so sorry you have to pay the price with your family.

I was asking for myself/my situation. I suppose me losing jobs every two years, while she never worked, and all her friends have moved up financially, while we were better than them 20 years ago, and she thought I was the catch and will make it big among them, and now I’m walking around worried (54) if I will get the next job she will approve or we have to pack and move … With that and me walking around eggshells in 25 years of marriage as she is a narcissist/BPD and has PMDD ( at least most of …

What causes such loss of affection? They lose emotional and physical attraction?

Too much financial obligations ( college kid, big mortgage - still, HCOL CA) to do that. She won’t work, but wants to start a biz!! Needs big $ for that and no working experience. I keep nudging to go work at same biz she wants to start. I’m afraid she will dump it on me while I slave in my regular job

Same - narcissist/BPD + PMDD: 25 years married; never worked; some college but not finished. One kid out other in college. Inwas ready to go then, this whole thing about me paying for her lifestyle rest of my life wasn’t acceptable to me (me 54, she 52). We are in a HCOL area. For freedom, i would be ok for minimalistic life on my own. I don’t she would work any low pay job ( rmbr narcissism ). Feel stuck just continue to live walking on egg shells.

How was she clinically diagnosed for BPD? Did she agree and go through it?

It’s good when they want it. Only happen when they want it and its there way and you have to do all the heavy work! In case it happens because you sort of beg for it, you will keep hearing how she made a mistake and accommodated and now I’m im no longer nice to her or ignoring her as my needs have been satisfied … I think that’s just projection

Thanks for sharing that BPD.. Sub. I suspected BPD as I read the original post. I’m on NarrcisticSpouses and PMDD as I thought those were what I was dealing with it. Recently learning it’s more more of BPD situations. Going to that subreddit to learn more.. I’m heading over there

Never heard of this Leykis and just googled and going to read some of his stuff. Also going to share with my young adult kids so they don’t make mistakes I made ( married 25 years, she is likely narcissistic + borderline and maybe PMDD too, so it has been hell of a roller coaster .. walking on eggshells life; single earner and now laid off too at 50s) Curious, how this is working for your and what your status is.

How are they doing? I’m wishing for one like that for my crazy one to be out of my life!

Is that like a fugitive life? This likely a basic knowledge, but will still ask: If kids are independent or over certain age (18, 21?), should the husband as single earner still provide living /alimony to the (ex) wife who has never worked or will the court rule that she has to find employment?

Yes that’s strange! Mine never worked and calls me the loser whenever something happens at work and I’m looking for change or I get laid off ( 2 of my layoffs happened back to back 2020 and 2022 - i work hard and deliver but not politically savvy and at times show my frustrations on stupidity and inefficiencies, or end up in bad luck of management changes ) Mine doesn’t even follow up or engage in any retirement /savings/ financial management topics which I’m stressed at 54.5 years! I know I can…

Thank you for clarifying. Yes as someone moved from Canada and now laid off in Silicon Valley (cost of living, taxes, ageism) for 3 months, with wife never earned a $ or did anything outside the home, yes, I will wish I don’t have to stress about health insurance.

Are you in UK - I see your kid will go to college it. UK? What is DB forum? Nothing to do with UK. I’m in Cali/US. And similar situation. When you said she didn’t /won’t contribute $, does that mean she earned but didn’t contribute or didn’t work? Mine never worked, and I’m worried that I will have to support her spoiled lifestyle and how I will be able to retire … I been only working wo a life so far. I’m finally seriously evaluating div as I been living in hell/walking in egg shells for 25 yea…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
