I was thinking more in terms of preventing someone from voicing an opinion based on something like that person's gender as mentioned by OP rather than on parameters such as the content or length of that person's speech. Censorship was probably the wrong word. I appreciated learning about isegoria and hearing your views on moderation, though. Thank you.

My sense is that censorship has no beneficial role in a democracy. Every person has the right to choose whether to speak his or her mind and every person has the right to choose whether to listen. You bring some measure of knowledge, wisdom, and experience to any topic regardless of whether you, as an individual, possess the characteristics referenced in that topic. Beyond that, who can say that you don't have now or won't have in the future someone significant to you whose life has been or will…

Unless you want to (1) spend your life trying to be someone else or (2) get a solid relationship going and then have it implode because you can't keep up the farce, just be yourself. Be as cocky as you normally are, as cocky as you want to be. If you really are the most fun person in your family, embrace that and use it to your advantage.

One of the best ways to overcome irrational fear is to do what you are afraid of and find out that nothing terrible will happen. She could step it up each week until she gets more comfortable going up to a guy and just having a conversation with him. Again, if he's interested, I'm sure he will appreciate it and help her mo…

If she doesn't want the crap that comes with a less than ideal relationship, I'm not sure if starting out from a standpoint of having game is the best approach. It also sounds like she is putting a lot of pressure on finding the right guy before dating when a big part of dating is learning if this is the right person for you. My sense (based on all I read here) is that she could do the following: identify a guy she might possibly like walk up to him and smile say something like, "I see you like …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
