No it isnt, thats an assumption. Youre telling me youd do every single thing you want to be legal? Even if you tried to bs thats true, the overwhelming majority of people are not like that.

That's also untrue. Just because a woman supports abortion doesn't mean she'll have an abortion. Just because I support allowing people to smoke doesn't mean I will smoke. It is dumb logic to think just because you want something legal, you want to do it yourself. It already is. The people who hold your views are conservative old people who are dying out. The amount of people doing de facto financial abortion is nearly (or over) half of those who are considered, and is only increasing.

I don't have a child, you don't know what you're talking about. Rich coming from you, who is defending women who only think about gratification of a short time in spite of consequences that last between 18 years and a lifetime. No reason to take your opinion on that seriously. Not so if de facto financial abortion is so popular and people aren't doing much about it. And yet, the number of people and women disagreeing is increasing even on this sub. A year ago would have had less women agreeing. …

I keep telling you, I'll cross that bridge when it comes. I'm talking about today, not a month from now. Time travel to the future if you don't want to discuss today, y'know, today. Pot calling the kettle black there. Yours is the minority opinion even on this thread. There are women in favor of it here, with caveats for it that I agree with. Sorry, not sorry.

Here's a reality check: abortion is currently legal and has been legal for decades. Pro-lifers have been trying for decades, and they are already counting their chickens before they hatch. Whether they have principles or not is irrelevant to competence. What part of today do you not understand? Well, you're doing a piss poor job. I would say this discussion has instead hardened my opinion rather than change my mind, because the argument has been really poor and if this is the best that can be do…

So... not a forgone conclusion. We don't know if the blowback was enough to change their votes. I did, it still doesn't matter. I am discussing what the situation is currently. According to you. I have a different opinion. It is already creating traction. The fact that you cannot argue against it better than "because I say so" and tired pro-life arguments is only going to give it more traction. As I said, de facto financial abortion already has a significant amount of traction. And that is only …

Well, it isn't doing too good of job considering the amount of child support not being paid. Sounds like it isn't a true desire and more of lipservice. It is. You tried to talk about the "burdens of being pregnant". Child support is not paying the woman for her "burden", it is paying for a child the father wants a relationship with. The justices cannot change their votes between now and then? I'm still talking about how things are today. If/when that happens, this argument is moot because financ…

Not if you're an atheist or of a different religion. The priest has no authority. The priest can have an opinion on how birth works or even how the heart works. But science is what we trust as the authority is Western society. If a priest says one thing about how the heart works, and a scientist says another thing about how the heart works, the court will go with the scientist. The result of a sperm donor is a baby being born to a mother who will not be supported by the bio dad. That has already…

The law tries to create symmetry where biological asymmetry exists. Men and women are not naturally symmetrical, yet the law still tries to treat them as such. The asymmetry is already being made equal by the woman having final say. Child support has nothing to do with pregnancy, some sort of pregnancy restitution would be an attempt to create equality. Wasn't the leak done by someone on the pro-choice side to light a fire under their asses? Seeing the blowback, I'm not convinced it is a foregon…

They don't need to be. Pregnancy and birth are biological issues. When you get pregnant, do you go to a doctor trained by science or a priest trained in theology? They are, why aren't they, because you said so? It does necessarily have to do with sex. If a couple decides to do in vitro fertilization, and then the father bounces he is still on the hook for child support. Sex wasn't the determining value, the intention to have a child was. Society clearly does not care about two parent households …

I think you need to look up the word necessarily again, or for the first time. I'll say good. I'm fine with it if abortion is denied for both sexes, I'm not fine with it being asymmetrical. If a government determines that consent to sex means consent to a baby for women too, I'll accept it. But currently they don't say that for women, so I won't accept it for men as well. How about we live in the present and not make forgone conclusions though?

Of course it has, I'm not presenting my opinions as fact. But some things I have said are facts, like many scientists not considering abortion murder. No he isn't. If he wanted to be a father, but she wanted an abortion, she has the final say. He doesn't have the final say. Nope, read what I said above again. No it isn't. Law is for society to function. We have unjust laws. Some of it still has a point. According to you. Sperm donors technically created a baby, but we have decided they shouldn't…

That is your opinion. The pro-choice view, which the government currently supports, says that consent to sex does not mean consent to having a baby. Because a woman consented to sex, but by having an abortion has not consented to having a baby. Go rule your own despotic kingdom if you want your opinion to be law.

That's your opinion, not a fact. That's your opinion, not a fact. He told the mother before the baby was born, the mother then chose the outcome knowing what would happen. She has the final say on whether she has an abandoned child or doesn't have an abandoned child. Say the father doesn't want to abandon his child, but the mother wants an abortion. The mother has the final say, so it is on her. Then the financial abortion point is moot. But in the cases where it isn't moot, she already knows. B…

Just because they have female partners currently doesn't mean they had more female partners than male, which is what I was talking about. They may have not been able to secure male partners, since it is generally said that gay male dating culture is much less commitment focused.

Yes, sex does not necessarily create a baby. Do you understand the word necessarily? Sex can create a baby. It doesn't necessarily create a baby. Look up the word necessarily. Consent to sex =/ consent to having a baby, pro-choicers (which is who the government would agree with if abortion is legal) have already concluded that consent to sex =/ consent to having a baby. So what? That still makes abortion the direct determiner. And since the government isn't even enforcing it for 40% of people, s…

How would they know that? They've never experienced not having a life. There's tons of sperm that never turned into a baby. What's the difference? Are we going to mourn all of the sperm that could have been life? Abortion is not murder. Her choices are: she can choose to have a child be abandoned by the father which she knows will happen before the baby is even born, or she can prevent the birth. If she chooses not to prevent the birth, then once the baby is born she contributed to it being an a…

Sex doesn't necessarily create a baby. I've had sex tons of times and haven't had a baby. And there are people who have created babies without sex. Abortion decides whether the process can continue. So how little can it be? If it doesn't need to fulfill the entire maintenance of the kid, or even half, can it just be 10%? Where's the line? What the government decides? That's arbitrary.

Not from what I have seen. Some women are worth dating according to TRP. You may just think it is an very small pool.

Who says that? And even if they aren't, if they desire a thing that comes out of it, why should they stop instead of trying? Not everybody loves their job though, and it is fine to not like your job. But it doesn't matter if they like the job if they like the money that comes it. I used to have jobs I didn't particularly like, but liked the fat paychecks.

If anything, shaving is the make up to make oneself look more presentable. Au naturale men have beards, and women don't wear make up.

It should just be an infusion of neurotransmitters, hormones, etc. It is at the end of the day just chemical reactions, and fooling your brain directly makes more sense than fooling your eyes and skin which will then fool your brain.

I'm told women are more valuable because "eggs are valuable and sperm is cheap", but in pretty much any society that allowed sex selective abortions people preferred having boys to girls. So idk

Oh you mean as a human being who does messed up shit human beings do when they get sad? Get over yourself being so holier than thou and judgemental. It sounds like you still don't even know what you are talking about like the other 3 things I pointed out you misunderstood.

I didn't say it was their first reaction. But it happens if they are in a major slump like getting kicked out of med school would put you in - because there's no way to fix that problem, the doctor career is over. And who said it would be a random stranger? I think you are just making unwarranted assumptions about things I never said.

Wouldn't she feel worse getting rejected or feeling lonely? I thought women used sex when they're feeling down as a way to say "at least I still got this", or is that just a trope?

Welp, it is the end of the year and the culling of the class has happened. I heard we lost something like 10% of the class (above average compared to pre-Covid), some will be allowed to redo the year. Anyway the reason I am bringing this up is that one of the girls I know was already redoing her year and just found out she failed again. She seems really sad, and for good reason - imagine not only losing your dream of being a doc, but losing two years of working and also having 2 years of debt yo…

When I use Hinge, I see the "Just Joined" flair on profiles all the time. I think the apps move those people to the front of the line, so you don't have to go through the whole stack to see them. Getting first dibs is more about timing, like them just happening to join when you are on or swiping earlier on in the day
